I had the incredible honor of curating this list of the best podcasts of 2025 for The Atlantic. These are the shows and creators which give me hope in the medium.

Many thanks to my editor @legsfrank.bsky.social and the whole team at the publication, without whom this simply would not have existed!

I'm sorry, the Washington Post hopes *I* will reconsider the value of their journalists?

My time with The Washington Post is up. I was laid off with hundreds of folks I am so honored to call my colleagues.

I covered it all at The Post (really), so now I'm looking for my next adventure.

I've been friends with Kim for 13 years and I am absolutely flabbergasted, she is a versatile, TREMENDOUS reporter (and human being). A huge asset to any newsroom fortunate enough to have her

O’Hara was incredible forever, on SCTV, the Christopher Guest movies, Beetlejuice, Home Alone, etc. But she didn’t become as famous as her talent warranted until her 60s. Suddenly it was like everyone caught up to her, and she could’ve worked forever. To have her taken away at this moment? No.

The specificity of Duguay’s comedy—droll and exacting yet completely surreal at the same time—proves to be the show’s creative engine.

This is a white supremacist paramilitary operation. Their goal—their stated goal!—is to force America to submit to the President's racist domineering vision for the country.

The sooner everybody starts confronting it on the terms that they themselves have stated, the better.

The newest video shows very clearly that they attacked him for coming to an aid of a woman that the agents pushed, and then executed him while he was immobilized. Everything the government has said, like with Good, has been a complete lie.

They murder a man in cold blood and wait around to watch him die. There is no hell hot enough. Abolish DHS. Impeach, convict, remove. Trials as soon as possible.
UPDATE: @dropsitenews.com has obtained the very graphic video from the lady in the pink coat, which shows ICE executing yet another person in broad daylight:

This is the best speech, just from a pure rhetoric perspective - its sophistication and persuasiveness - that I've seen a politician deliver in a good long while. Really recommend watching or reading the whole thing.
A YouTube link for those looking for it. No words.

somehow over these last couple weeks I was able to finish this, a look into Serengeti's beloved Ultimate Chicago Guy alter ego Kenny Dennis, and it was strangely therapeutic being able to lose myself in Midwestern rap lore storytelling for a while

This is a great story, and yet another reminder that -- for something that felt like a fun goofy feature when it launched -- as we lose more and more actors, the AV Club's "Random Roles" has turned out to be an amazing oral history project.
Terrible, always a total magnet. His story about getting cast in Goodfellas, basically his first movie, is so charming www.avclub.com/isiah-whitlo...

Great piece from Fiona on the general enshittification of podcasts, thanks to a paradigm shift towards video. Very good insights as well from @msmirandasawyer.bsky.social and Eleanor McDowall of @fallingtreeprod.bsky.social.

The number of times I have said this exact line (including the Richard III reference, strangely) in the last year and a half is staggering. People’s whole demeanor changes when they know they’re being filmed! Video is not additive to the podcast experience. 100%. Full stop.
My kingdom for pod hosts to stop telling me about the visual gags I'm missing by not subscribing to the video feed. Baby, I genuinely do not care or want to see it
