one of the things that's so cool about the maryland.gov redesign is they clearly used a modified version of the us web design system, which handles a lot of accessibility issues that are present in the beta baltimore city website (and makes a mockery of vendor 1's lack of development chops ;)

thought we'd check in on the ole catholics, see how they're doing... gonna say putting a caricature of a mass shooter in the thumbnail of one's native genocide apologia video implies a strong "no, the catholics are Not Doing Okay"; cesaire was right.

we're kind of a fan of the premise that someone would be attentive enough to mind religion polling but not attentive enough to have paid attention to the terrorgram indictment and other right wing extremists to know Whats Coming Next
I know Bluesky loves to celebrate this stuff, but uh, you guys aren’t going to love the stuff that’s replacing the churches.
The U.S. is undergoing its fastest religious shift in modern history, marked by a rapid increase in the religiously unaffiliated and numerous church closures nationwide.

someone needs to invent a progressive primary challenger that can beat wes moore because another term of sigma-grindset centrist-pilled data-driven grift-maxxxing will be insufferable. www.baltimoresun.com/2025/12/23/g...

struck by how terrible of a premise "we just threw some listings of businesses into the llm and spat out a number" is when you consider that didn't include things like "we checked to see if the listings were accurate" compass.maryland.gov/map/

we've been thinking a lot lately about how vehicle registration fees should be scaled by the fourth power law. preliminary spreadsheet thoughts: would change suv regis less ems fee from 151 to 490, impacting 16.7% of registrations and would bring in 416 million/yr (1/3rd of road sustaining budget)
dang it's almost as if all the baltimore potholes might be caused by all these fuckin too-big cars drivin around

one of the things that's fun about the high injury network being finally released is that you can compare it to the projects that bmore dot has been posting about over the last year... and they're almost all disjoint from the high injury network. www.thebanner.com/community/tr...
Here’s where Baltimore says the worst traffic crashes occur
The number of crashes in Baltimore overall is down about 16% since 2019, according to city statistics, but the number of serious injuries or deaths resulting from such crashes is up over the same time...

someone please forward this study to howard county's delegate jen terrasa, who was pointedly wrong about single stair reform in this recent committee meeting.

reading bloomberg opinion is great because you get a mix of interesting business takes and then every time there's a terrible sounding headline or the piece reads like knockoff nazism its one of a small predictable number of weirdos.

we had forgotten that the trails strategic plan features one of the most silly bike intersections in baltimore city. (33rd and st john) probably a push to call the plan robust but it IS a plan, so we'll play along.

earnestly curious what percentage of the people on this set of replies know who dr. bender is and have read bender gebru et al '21 🦜 or shah bender '22 🔍 guess: it's closer to 0% than 100%
I would like to add that this is not only horsecrap but completely unfalsifiable, and therefore a useless standard.

the capitulation is heartbreaking but predictable; the essence of trans-cis relations is that cis people do not view trans people as coequal humans deserving of dignity. we are abject to be jettisoned at the first sign of difficulty, not included such that "an injury to one is an injury to all"
WI and Girl Guides UK are talking out of both sides of their mouths. If you stand with trans women and girls by excluding them when the going gets rough rather than ACTUALLY FIGHTING TO STAY TOGETHER, what use is your allyship
“we stand with them” HOW, motherfucker, you’re falling over at a light breeze

read a proposal by the neighborhood design center and we have questions like "is it a road diet if it doesn't reduce car lanes?" "should an org propose incomplete streets in the year of our lacrimation 2025?" and "how much car-brain can one subject themselves to before it counts as self harm?"
