Anyone shocked that Reform plan to deport immigrants with Indefinite Leave to Remain hasn’t been paying attention.

Next it will be stripping citizenship from dual citizens, then deporting them.

Who do you think Reform are?

This.

This is who they are.

There’s a tradition in some European countries called “telling the bees,” in which bees are informed of notable events in the human world. In Oxford, when a hive’s owner dies, a member of the family will tap on the hive with a housekey and say, “Bees, bees, your master is dead.”

Kier Starmer's statement that includes the words "We must all be free to debate openly and freely without fear - there can be no justification for political violence" feels *slightly* hypocritical when he criminalises peaceful protest, endorses transphobia, and fully backs UK arms sales to Israel.

Fucking hell.
I just posted today about how higher ed always devalues the humanities & how it's linked to legacy media laying off seasoned cultural critics.

It's all connected: defunding the humanities & public media, pushing AI on us - it's about destroying critical thinking.
Wow. The University of Chicago, a world-class institution whose humanities faculty in the past has included Homi Bhabha & Lauren Berlant & Ralph Ellison & Hannah freaking Arendt, is getting rid of basically every graduate department involving the acknowledgment that other cultures & languages exist.

DRACULA x THE SECRET HISTORY

1895. A young man falls headlong into the Greco-Roman drinking society of an infamous author, but when he witnesses the sacrificial killing of a boy, he must choose between morality and immortality - before his own blood is spilt.

Just found out my poetry has been stolen by Meta to train its AI. I’m a nobody in the writing world, my career as a poet & author is only just beginning & already my work has fallen victim to Meta (like so many others!)

I’d love to know what @ukparliament.parliament.uk is planning to do about this
We are disappointed but not surprised that Meta has used millions of pirated books to develop its AI systems.

As a matter of urgency, Meta needs to compensate the rightsholders of all the works it has been exploiting.

But what can authors do? Read here:
