The Institutionalisation of Medical Photography, Public Funding and Medical Reform in Parisian Hospitals (1878–1913)*
While historians of photography and medicine have rarely engaged with the financial aspects of medical photography, funding strategies had a key role in the early development of this practice. The ...

Yes, this is all stupid.

Note 'marry early'. Your 9-9-6 day plus gym, running, specialist diet and other activities require support to achieve. A wife in such cases is very helpful. It's more overt here but remains an integral part of much contemporary straight men's lifestyle advice.

Graham Linehan proves the point that trans liberationists have been saying from the start:

If you'll permit dehumanising and stripping the rights of trans people, you will dehumanise and strip the rights of anyone on a long enough timeline.
This is exactly the same playbook Graham Linehan uses against trans people, where defending trans rights is cast as defending "rape" and "paedophilia." He uses "rape" and "paedophilia" as punchlines, and, therefore, all of his hate speech and advocation for violence against his enemies is justified.

part of this is like, conservatives projecting; part of this is conservatives unable to imagine politics without money; and part of this is dudes who are so out of touch with feminized labor that they think children's birthday parties exist as a spontaneous act of parthogenesis
I mostly just stay off Twitter altogether but after double checking that the Walter Hudson post was still up I ran across this and just had to share so the Romancelandians who bought hand warmers could hear about the PROFESSIONAL GRADE LOGISTICS.

Things are shitty. Want to hear about my side quest?

I'm working on securing images for my book, which means tracking down rights holders & making sure each image is of a good enough quality to reprint. As you may or may not know, the book is on early women doctors and their political activism. 🧵

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

Also taking away time spent writing, doing research, applying for grants, supervising PhD students, preparing to teach, actually teaching, grading, supporting students, or doing all the mindless paperwork related to teaching that they keep asking us to do.
Wasting time providing the university information THEY ALREADY HAVE in order to ensure I have a research allocation for the next 2 years (or less! This cycle hasn't been 2 years!) The rage I feel

Photo by Pierre Lavie. Yes this is me. And I threw my Leica. It landed on the bass plate with hardly a scratch. Another Photographer grabbed it along with my phone and I was able to track him later. I was held face down tear gas deployed right in front of me and pepper sprayed directly into the eye.
