my radical plan for daylight savings will unite the country: stop changing the time and just change the work day - wake up and go to work when the sun is up for safety, say 11am, and then pack it in around 3:30pm, again, for safety reasons

Why is the auto shop, who's supposed to be giving me a discount because my dad works for the company, charging 33% more than what the tires retail for at Walmart? Hmmm...

i think if you ride public transit enough you learn that most weird behavior is not dangerous, and conversely i think driving a car teaches you that everyone is trying to kill you at all times

Wow, I get to see my GI doctor in person for a check up in December!

I've only ever seen her in person when she's sticking a camera up my butt. What a novel experience this shall be!

What I thought were some very impressive high notes in the opera that was playing on CBC Radio, were in fact the squeaking of a truck's brakes outside.

Instead of trying to green cars so much why don't we just invest in trains. city trains. under ground trains. above ground trains. trains between cities. trains between countries. TRAINS

Oh, wow, this is amazing to see. It's actual recommendations and guidance on the importance of clean indoor air - including against the spread of viruses like Covid. Indoor air risks to people's health are clearer than ever, and now we must implement these standards like we did for clean water.

Many people are under the mistaken assumption that the longer a pathogen circulates in the population, the weaker it is. This is NOT a guarantee or even the most common outcome. And when the COVID vaccine doesn't even halt transmission, we have a major problem.
Under current conditions of deliberate negligence and unrestrained contagion, the ongoing pandemic of Covid-19 will never abate. Unless necessary measures of public safety are enforced, the pandemic will continue until the last human being suffers a final, fatal infection.

Go give your favorite Indie Authors a nice Christmas bonus by buying some books by the end of October.
Indie authors & publishers aren't paid immediately, so there's just 9 days left to where any books bought in 2025 will be paid out to them. So I thought I'd do a thread where people could find some books!

(authors, please read 🧵first lol)

Many from Metis who disagree with Ashley Salvador have been very mean spirited. The Facebook comments were especially nasty.

That's why it's good to see Councillor Salvador cruising towards a victory with more votes than her two closest competitors *combined*.

The silent majority supports her. 😌

The NDP might also ask how many people giving up and not bothering to vote is acceptable in the context that there have been no issues with municipal voting using tabulators in the past.

A thing white folks (especially white folks claiming to be anti-racist (including me)) need to keep in mind is that we will ALWAYS be racist.

Our prejudices don't just disappear one day because we've declared ourselves to be un-prejudiced.

Often, we aren't even aware of how racist we're being.
The majority of white folks, including white politicians and aspiring politicians, aren't anti racists.

Most white folks who proclaim themselves not racist are indeed racist or engaging in micro aggressions.

It's either out loud racism or that quiet sneaky racism that smiles at ya.
