And I just think you have to understand that about these people, they're barely capable of formulating the question "why should I do this?" - the fact that other people don't want them to but they can and therefore they're demonstrating their power over them by so doing, that's it, that's enough.

Real monkey paw kinda wish, but sometimes I really wish the Jan 6 rioters did manage to get a hold of a few actual congressional members. If they had MAGA would be the acknowledged traitorous stain on America it should be now instead of a focal point of fascist gaslighting

If you made a Venn diagram of every weird person I knew in Silicon Valley during the first dot-com boom, centrifuged it, extracted the pellet, and re-suspended it in high-proof eugenics with a splash of AI, you'd end up with something like this.

Had a close friend, was into big bank fintech starting in the 90s, he went MAGA, so stopped talking to him…but I recall an ongoing argument we had in the late 00s. He was a huge proponent of Facebook as a cultural project, I’d counter that Twitter was & would prove more important/influential… (1/2)
