I sell books to booksellers; transitive properties therefore mean I'm at least partially literate. ACAB -- yes, every single one of them, even your uncle/father/neighbor/whatever. Every billionaire deserves a wood chipper.

i think you can judge how free - or not - our political media is by the fact that elon musk literally did a sieg heil (twice) at a rally and it’s still seen as uncouth and overly partisan (in legacy media) to describe his politics as straightforwardly white supremacist.

Nothing about our current moment is comprehensible without understanding that:

1. Until 1965, white men decided who was president.
2. for the next four decades, every president elected was either a Republican or a white male Southerner.
3. Barack Obama was the first exception to the above.

Poll taxes are illegal, but that won't stop them from trying. Requiring an ID to vote is a suppression tactic, which is why they are working hard to put them in place.

I hope they don't succeed, but I'm preparing in case they do.
Games are being played with your right to vote. I know it's not possible for everyone, but I'm making sure I got all my paper work in order. Voter registration, certified copies of my birth certificate, Real ID, and U.S. passport.

And the start of early voting is marked on my calendar. No excuses.

I've long been an open borders person, and this thread does a pretty damn good job of summarizing why it's literally the only humane position to take.
In Trump's nightmare America, the racism and violence of mass deportation are clear. But closed borders have always meant racism, needless suffering, and death. Democrats have done much to get us where we are now.

There is illiberalism on *both* sides. [Drink!] 🧵
Abolition, Amnesty, Decriminalization, Open Borders
You may not believe immigration restrictions are racist, but racists believe immigration restrictions are racist.

But WaPo illegally fired me, so.

Here we are.
You can't expect the country's (formerly) most-respected newspaper to have both someone who understands Spanish (PR dialect) *and* someone who knows their Caribbean history, can you? 🌴🤣

3. While the president may have dementia his racism is not due to dementia.
4. He isn’t sorry. He means every racist thought he shares.
5. His base agrees with him.
6. He will do it again.
7. No one in power will hold him accountable.

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.
