A short while ago I put together a playlist for friends to show them what it was that I was getting from Brian's music. I subtitled it "Beach Boys songs that are very Relatable (TM) to neurodivergent depressives". You can find it here www.tunemymusic.com/share/80zVbx...

Listen to “Summer’s Gone” from The Beach Boys’ last album “That’s Why God Made The Radio” and weep. Farewell, Maestro. Nothing but love and a lovely lasting debt from all of us over here on E Street.

Brian Wilson was the most musically inventive voice in all of pop, with an otherworldly ear for harmony. He was also the visionary leader of America’s greatest band, The Beach Boys. If there’d been no Beach Boys, there would have been no “Racing In The Street.”

It's good to see all the love that Brian Wilson is getting tonight. Like Sly, he was a true fucking genius. I've meet too many people who couldn't see past — rather, hear past — what The Beach Boys looked like.

RIP Brian Wilson

Possibly the songwriter I've listened to the most

Heard something the rest of us could not hear, and brought it into the world

Subjected to mental illness, abuse, addiction, and the cruelty of the music industry. And moved through it with love and mercy.

The Beach Boys were the sound of California in the 60s

Losing Brian Wilson now is particularly poignant

All strength to a beautiful state of sun, surf, and harmonies

assaulted by forces of darkness

I grew up in a house full of music. My folks loved and exposed us to every genre.
This song, and many other Beach Boys tunes, brings back so many memories.

Thinking of this song, in particular, tonight.

In their respective genres, it would be hard to pick two more influential musicians and producers of the 60s than Sly Stone and Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson has been a hero and inspiration ever since I was old enough to understand the songs I love so much were created by actual people. I can go on for many pages and paragraphs about what exactly I admire about his music—and perhaps one day I will—but for now I’m just going to mourn. RIP
