In the U.K., a shocking proposal from a Conservative MP elicited pushback from her party only belatedly. It signals darker things to come.

‘Lying to people who know you’re lying’

Working for Trump in a single line.
Not to mention that Johnson is gaining valuable experience as a serial liar, as that’s all he does now. The MAGAT mantra is “Lie Even if you Know the Truth”. Johnson and Leavitt should take their show on the road. “How to look like complete idiots while lying to people who know you’re lying”.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It’s a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We’ve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

The problem with this is not just having to correct well intentioned grandparents; it’s that they will never really believe anything again, and so when ICE are actually shooting protestors, gullible viewers will believe when the Govt they have been brought up to trust claims it’s just AI videos
A friend told me that her American dad got in touch to talk about some news he'd seen on Facebook: there are riots in England over DEI, and the King dramatically burst into parliament to tell Starmer off, and then Prince William did the same to Sadiq Khan. AI really is inventing bold new universes

Why is the British Govt still on Twitter when its owner posts hateful nonsense like this?

Seriously wtf?
Elon Musk, "These lovely small towns in England, Scotland and Ireland, they've been living their lives quietly. They're like hobbits"

"And so one day, 1,000 people show up in your village of 500 and start raping the kids"

"This has now happened, God knows how many times in Britain"

I’m not a King, it’s just I can declare there’s an insurrection and then the military are at my personal service, and courts and congress are cancelled. But yeah totally not like a King at all.
Trump: "I'm allowed as you know as president, like 50% of the presidents have used the Insurrection Act. Everybody agrees you're allowed to use that and there is no more court cases, there is no more anything. We're trying to do it in a nicer manner, but we can always use the Insurrection Act."

Serving espresso in disposable paper cups is just wrong*. It only takes 3 sips to finish one, they go cold fast, it ruins the taste/experience - they DO NOT NEED to-go cups.

* unless you are a coffee cart without a dishwasher.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

If you don't believe Putin has something deeply embarrassing on Trump, you're just not paying attention.

The very greatest crime of the Trump II is his support of the war criminal over the Ukrainian Churchill.

The U.S. Constitutional system, when adopted abroad, has always collapsed into dictatorship.

It’s why the State Department nation building efforts have always modeled parliamentary systems.

We may be at the “Admit it is broken at the core” stage.

All I want in life is to persuade everyone, when encountering politics & culture, to ask, "why are we talking about this?" I mean that very literally: anything you encounter on your screens reflects a choice. Someone covered that, talked about that, rather than the many other things out there. Why?

UAE has no democratically elected institutions, no free speech and an appalling human rights record.

Its economy functions on completely different metrics to the ours & ranks well below us for GDP

No serious person would ever think that we should emulate it.

But here's Tice calling us decadent

A country that tolerates this baloney emanating from its head of state and government for a day, let alone another four and a half years, has surely lost its mind.

Unhinged crackpot stuff anyone remotely connected with reality would be ashamed and embarrassed to say out loud.

I sort of don’t understand how the GOP, which controls Congress, is trying to blame this on the Dems?

I mean I do, but JFC the Dem messaging is shit
So Speaker Johnson gave the congress another week off. Paid of course, while they shut the govt down.

The GOP has made it clear they have no interest in compromise with Dems. So they will have to figure how to reopen their govt that they closed.

And they get another vacation
