Don't get it twisted, Wikipedia is HIGHLY inaccurate in far too many ways; but generative AI is such utter and complete garbage that it makes Wikipedia look almost reliable by comparison.
I'm kind of mad that when I was a late teen people were all "Wikipedia oooooohnoooo you can't use that as a source" and now with AI they are just like "WHEEEEEEEE!!!"

Where "peaceful" is more or less synonymous with "ineffectual"; because that's also the crowd more likely to see a symbolic victory as a real victory, pat themselves on the back, and make that the sum total of their "revolutionary" action.
I think you're highlighting a point Black activists have been making for a while now.
Police are far less likely to brutalize norrmy libs, the NPR crowd, and wine moms. Which is why activists have been frustrated by those crowds praising themselves for maintaining "peaceful" demonstrations.

Exactly this. Violence is not a scenario anyone but the worst far-right fanatics want to enact, but self-defense is critical to survival. Fascists have never been defeated by debate or sternly-worded petitions.
I think a lot of people are posting "violence is never the answer" when what they mean is "I wish we didn't live in accelerationist times where we're being herded towards situations where violence is going to be necessary". And, I wish we could at least be honest about that.

all i know is that normalizing debate with fascists has only facilitated the rise of fascism.
