@lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com Not buying it, Lawrence. We didn't march in the street. Organize and donate. Stuff envelopes and make calls. Face down armed soldiers. We didn't do any of that to have our team cave.

IT IS A LOSS. They squandered the greatest amount of political capital since Obama.

The thing about Mamdani is that he’s a talented politician but not otherworldly or one in a billion, he’s just a competent guy with popular ideas who ran against an entitled piece of shit and to me it’s a lot more optimistic to imagine 1000 campaigns like his than to view him as a unique phenomenon

Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting

This seems significant.

"U.S. GDP growth in the first half of 2025 was almost entirely driven by investment in data centers and information processing technology, according to Harvard economist Jason Furman."
Without data centers, GDP growth was 0.1% in the first half of 2025, Harvard economist says | Fortune
Is a U.S. without data centers a country without GDP growth?

Bernie Sanders has said in the Senate after Susan Collins reportedly laughed about the new funding bill:

“If this bill passes, certain groups will see their premiums triple. When you remove healthcare from 15 million people, 50,000 Americans will die who didn’t have to. Do you think that’s funny?”

Sanders: Let’s be clear… If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are going to see at least a doubling in their premiums… if resolution is passed tonight, we are on a path way to throw 15 million Americans off of medicaid and the affordable care act, 15 million.

These 8 useless Democratic Senators are all wealthy and have feathered themselves a lovely retirement nest.

They don't need to be in these positions anymore.

They can amble away into the privileged nothingness that defines their spinelessness and lack of courage.

Demand more and better, folks.

I love @atrupar.com but thinking Trump needs any sort of excuse to keep lying or implying that a lack of official data would keep him from
doing it *might* be a bit off.

FWIW - if Trump is speaking, he’s either lying or using the truth so he can manipulate it and his audience later.
It's the first Friday of the month, which means we've gone 2 months now without a jobs report. For Trump, this is a feature of the shutdown, not a bug, since private surveys show the job market slowing dramatically. But without official data he's able to keep lying about it.

It is extremely strange for someone who wants so desperately to be popular (talking about Trum, here, not Josh Marshall) to choose such unpopular policies…
The White House keeps unilaterally taking entirely voluntary actions which it openly says are intended to inflict more pain and then they're I guess surprised - along with most of the DC media - about why they seem to be taking the blame for the shutdown.

But, it’s a slippery slope. What’s next? Ravioli?
They really fucked it even bringing the sandwich thing to trial - of course no jury was ever going to agree with that causing actual bodily harm, and of course the hilarious nature of the loss is going to net much more attention than if they'd just let it go
