On January 10, participants in a march in Oakland smashed 47 windows at the federal building and covered it with spray paint as a way to identify it as a base of local ICE operations.

While ICE is focused on the Twin Cities, actions elsewhere can spread their attention thin and inspire resistance.

and really not the main point here, so while I might make the clarification within the book, the title/subtitle will have to say "Spain," as much as it pains me.
January 17, 2026 at 1:28 AM
oh boy haha. Sooo...we have a bit of an allergy to saying "Spain," since we consider it an imperialist entity into which Catalunya, the Basque Country, Galicia, etc. are forced to belong. "Spain" implies a Spanish nation, which we are of the opinion doesn't exist. That said, it's confusing to people

Obviously still working on a punchier and shorter subtitle...

Excitement. Just wrapped up the foreword to the English version of "Antifascistas" by @miquelramos.bsky.social, a 500 page deep dive into antifascist resistance in the post-Franco Spanish state-- from the 70s to the present. Will be published by @pmpress.bsky.social next January.

Whatever ICE agents say, it is a lie. Never believe a word.

They do violence to the truth as eagerly as they do violence to human beings.

They represent the most despicable aspects of all humanity. They will murder, kidnap, brutalize, and terrorize as long as they are permitted to.

Rise up.

Narcotrafficking and its legacy, are the chains of capital.

Autonomy, Conscience, and Action-- Against their Business of Death.

(Just some random anarcho-straightedge stuff to cleanse the timeline a bit from all the other horrors of the moment.)

A strategic alignment of major networks of unions and community groups in Minnesota have worked together for more than a decade to leverage their collective power.

Your read of the day. So much out there about how ICE is marauding its way through Minneapolis but very little about grass roots resistance. Here I speak to a teacher on the front lines and he breaks down the *numbers* of people involved in resisting ICE. Chills.

A Minneapolis Teacher Wants the Whole Country in the Streets Confronting ICE
Dan Troccoli, a public middle-school teacher, says everyone should start “emulating” Minneapolis’s resistance to the Trump regime.

For those who've been in denial, rambling don't take the bait, let Minneapolis be a lesson that kills your naivete and ignorance. There is no bait, it's not a distraction. This is a planned and violent occupation, it won't be the first, and no amount of peaceful protest makes a damn difference.

They changed uniforms and now wield state power to advance their fascist fantasies, but these are a new version of the same Nazis Lewiston has already faced off with in the past.

Look at the fucking murdering trash. The US Army stormed the beaches of Normandy with less kit on than these rent a cop murderers.
Near Lyndale and 24th Ave in Minneapolis tonight, feds have reportedly shot another person.

Preliminary info is shaky for now, hearing two people injured.

BORTAC just rolled up in an armored vehicle. A crowd is gathering outside the police tape—MPD presence as well.

This is great. I was just thinking about no longer paying rent and instead investing in a yacht or two.

The New York Times just about every other day:

"We spoke to 11 Trump voters on why they think American Fascism is great."

And then there's one particularly special idiot always who's like "mass deportations are wonderful, just wish seeing them in practice wouldn't make me quite so uncomfortable."
January 14, 2026 at 5:15 PM
They aren't invincible. The more you scratch away at the veneer and undress the myth-- the more people will be emboldened, the more audacious they'll dare to be, and the greater the resources of ICE and co. that will be drained.
When a regime completely abandons soft power and banks entirely on Hard Power, shattering its grip of intimidation can be the rupture that leaves it vulnerable to rebellious retribution soon after. Work Smarter not harder.

I thought that too. Odd that I never encountered this, since I speak both German and Spanish. I'm going to have to cut it. The concept of collective guilt is of course spot on for the brand, but it's not a word for word historical reference.
January 13, 2026 at 8:20 AM
Same. Still a pretty fascist thing to say, and definitely embodies their spirit, but not a quote.
