Critics of the Trump administration have argued that it is weaponizing accusations of antisemitism to suppress pro-Palestine speech, silence dissent, and undermine academic freedom under the pretense of civil rights enforcement.

Goes to show that with enough public outcry, even ICE can be forced to grant freedom to people who were wrongfully detained.
Three children and their mother have been released from federal custody after being detained by immigration enforcement agents last month at an upstate New York dairy farm.

The family was returned to New York after being taken into custody last month and held at a detention center in Texas, officials and advocates said.

I think the Supreme Court got the law badly wrong tonight. But beyond that, it’s just incredibly ominous that Roberts would throw Boasberg under the bus and hand Trump this big win when his administration has conducted this case in EXTREME bad faith from the start. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Librarians kick ass!
NEW: ALA is going to court to stop the President’s attempts to illegally dismantle the Institute of Museum & Library Services.

The President does not have the authority to destroy a federal agency. That's why we're taking action with our co-plaintiff @afscme.bsky.social. #ForOurLibraries (1/3)

Sending anyone from this country to a foreign gulag, particularly without a court hearing, should rightfully end a presidency. Full stop.

This story shows that speaking out against ICE and their outrageously harsh treatment of nonviolent moms and kids can make a difference and even win their freedom.

Very insightful yet disturbing critique and analysis of how AP, BBC, NPR and NY Times chose to print poorly worded headlines and lead-ins when covering Palestine, by hiding the facts even when the facts are clear and creating doubt even when there is no doubt.
Excellent piece by Ayoub highlighting the liberal media’s presposterous use of language when reporting on Palestine.

When words are used to conceal rather than disclose… in the context of reporting news… you know the liberal paradigm is in trouble.
I wrote 2800 words on how BBC, NPR, NYT and AP News covered Israel's execution of Palestinian rescue workers

Pam Bondi, the highly unqualified Attorney General (is it redundant to say that any Trump cabinet appointee is unqualified?) is basically ordering all attorneys working for the Justice Dept to break their oath and lie to judges, if that's what it takes to "zealously follow orders".
For any non-attorneys reading this: This is absolutely, definitely, very clearly not okay.
the justice department's position is now that candor toward the tribunal constitutes insubordination

What Cory Booker did wasn’t just about breaking a record or standing up for democracy—it hits different for Black folks.

Strom Thurmond spoke for 24 hours to block the Civil Rights Act of 1957.

Eisen: Donald Trump has removed my security clearance three times. I don't know if it is a mental capacity thing and he just forgets that he did it, or if he takes it away and then when he loses again, he says, turn it back on so I can feel better about all of the losing.

Retweeting this 1000x.
The message is: crowd large.

Many politicians, administrators, and business leaders, in bowing to Trump, have drawn confidence and comfort from the perceived vibe shift.

Events like this puncture that delusion.
You can stop asking where the mass opposition is. It's everywhere.
People poured out to protest not only what Trump has done—and what they fear he will do next.

"The resistance to Trump is curiously muted" was a story about elites and institutions that those same elites and institutions and the commentariat conflated with the grassroots. They were, once again, wrong.

Free Covid tests!

My understanding is this is still happening and anyone can order—just spoke to someone who ordered 3000 tests as an individual and was able to very quickly distribute them out to interested groups!

And let me emphasize: for free!!
If you or your mutual aid group want to get some of that federal stockpile of COVID tests, you can order them for free. Minimum is 300, unclear what the max is! my local clean air group just did this and they arrived quickly:

A few thoughts about today's protests:

1) The April 5 Hands Off day of action clearly ranks as one of the very largest mobilizations in U.S. history, by two different measures:
-- total national turnout (~ 3 million)
-- number of local protests (~ 1400)
