My latest: With one possible exception, there have never been this many coordinated protests on a single day in the U.S. before. I explore why the omnipresence of these peaceful demonstrations matters so deeply, in the face of authoritarian overreach: lakauffman.substack.com/p/when-peace...
When Peaceful Protests Are Everywhere
There were more than 2000 No Kings demonstrations on June 14, a record-breaking number: Why this ubiquity matters

I refuse to let this era be defined by the sick villains and spineless cowards. We are surrounded by everyday heroes and they will keep emerging.
Damn this video of a observer/protester climbing a ladder to hand blanket to the construction worker who was surrounded by ICE.

Tuesday evening I went to a fantastic panel discussion at Booksmith celebrating the launch of We Will Rise Again. Forgot to take a photo. City Lights is doing a zoom event on Sunday the 11th, if you want to get re-energized:

You can just get the book, too.

Trump's ballroom donors include:

-Google, whose CEO thanked Trump for "resolution" of an antitrust case
-Palantir, which has lucrative contracts with ICE
-Blackstone's Stephen Schwarzman, who would profit from Trump's regulatory rollbacks for private equity

Y’all here is a fun fact: Portland has a brand new volunteer organization called “operation inflation” that allows people to borrow inflatable costumes for protests. They just started a couple weeks ago and have like a 160 costume library (and counting because people keep donating).
