Imagine interviewing a victim of torture and independently confirming the details of his torture and then being told you can’t broadcast it because the people who ordered the torture wouldn’t give their side of the story.

And somehow, by and large, they largely are able to avoid getting asked basic journalistic questions. Despite often going on TV, despite often being around journalists. It's on the reporters for not even trying.

My main takeaway is not so much how it demonstrates that they know they're full of shit, because we already know that.

My main takeaway is how easy it is to catch them with the simplest follow-up, and how obvious this makes it that they're not used to being asked basic journalistic questions.
HASSETT: If the Supreme Court doesn't find with us, refunds would go to whoever cut the check for the tariff

BRENNAN: Doesn't the administration claim it was the country that paid that?

Why decline all these chances to defend feminism? Because to participate would be accepting the premise that our rights and humanity are up for debate in the first place.

Once you’ve conceded that it’s reasonable to ask whether women’s equality was a mistake, you’ve already lost.

People need to wake up and see how shitty npr is. Compared to Fox News it is fine, but they are firmly in the corporate conservative camp.

Do not give them money. Find actual independent journalists who will ask actual questions and not engage in access journalism
Because it’s not just Bari Weiss’ CBS asking this question—in the last few months, I’ve been approached by half a dozen different shows looking to ‘debate’ the same topic.

I even got a request from NPR-distributed “Open to Debate” to see if I’d weigh in on “Has Feminism Hurt Women?”

saw someone say the next dem administration should learn from trump & simply enact their agenda without thought to norms or procedure, & i hate to break it to that person but the dems already do exactly what they want with power. they don't try to do things & fail, they try to do nothing & succeed

This is one of the more disingenuous arguments against renewables. Dumb people say this thinking they sound smart

You do not need one big battery. Energy is distributed and not concentrated. A thousand tiny cups would actually be preferable as it keeps local regions in power and distributes risk

Which is worse, stopping the research so you don’t have to ignore it, or continue researching and actively ignore it so you don’t have to disrupt your billionaire benefactors?

It’s so joever

How often are you posting on truth social? Gab? Are you active in the storm front forums?
IMO it's hard to combat the dangerousness of the right by participating in a platform where they aren't present.
I think the best way to explain the X vs Bluesky preference is whether a person thinks the left is more annoying than the right is dangerous.

The reason so many Noah Smiths end up on the X side of that equation is that while the left annoys them personally, the right mostly endangers other people.

This is a fun question—best “serious” actor in a comedic role of the last decade?
It’s so much easier for comic actors to do drama than vice versa. Look at Jim Carrey in Eternal Sunshine or Truman Show, and then look at De Niro’s comedies, they’re terrible
