this is false. at worst, every case *in which a signature of AI use can be recognised in the final product* is a sign of lack of care. you don't notice the cases that you don't notice.

the 'AI signature' isn't a property of AI use, it's a property of unskilled/lazy AI use.

people here are super unpleasant a lot of the time, even compared to X, which is a horrible bar to fail to meet!

nidhogg is hilarious. nidhogg 2, very similar on paper, isn't at all.

lots of possible reasons. imo a big one is that everything about n2 is zany and grotesque looking. it insists very hard that it's a Funny Game. while n1 played it ~straight; nonchalant emergent slapstick.

We're looking for more people to test our peckbuilder. If you like birds, cards, occasional bugs, and trying out new stuff, we have the perfect game for you! The secret sauce: instead of playing single cards you play sequences of three cards.
If you haven't playtested @neonaurelius.bsky.social's Sparrow Warfare, now is your CHANCE as their latest public playtest is liiiiiiiive.

If you love BIRBS and BIRBBUILDERS, then this is for you. Very fun and lots of modifiers.

I've worked with programmers who made a mess that others had to clear up long before AI was an option. coders who don't gaf were a liability then just as they are now. this is a 'humans' problem.
I've lost count how many times in a project I've asked the programmers how some system works only to get back "oh Claude did it, so no one really knows". And now it falls on me to take the time they didn't take. That's not time saving, it's time displacing. And an imposition on the rest of the team.

try it properly. it will either change your opinion or properly validate it. that's valuable either way imo.
If you are a programmer and an AI hold-out, and you have some time off during Christmas: gift yourself a 100 USD subscription to Claude Code and … try it. But really try it. Take a week if you can afford it and dive in. It will change your opinion on these tools.

approaching 200 hours on newthing dev. still not ruled it out, and still not validated it definitively 😅

I'm sure it's easy to fall into if you're in the right kind of bubble, but 'everyone hates ai' is a false affirmation, no matter how many headlines repeat it. chat gpt alone is used by 125 million daily. for comparison netflix has ~300m subscribers.

people keep saying this, but then fail to take this chain of thought further:

on the margin, the way a completion engine makes more life-like completions *is to model the world more accurately and convey true stuff*

and LLMs are, unsurprisingly, making huge gains in this area.

rent seeking is the pursuit of income or advantage by manipulating rules, institutions, or narratives.

often rent seekers try to prevent people doing certain peaceful things through legislative capture, and/or stigmatisation.
a lot of popular left wing "solutions" to problems amount to "groups that yell loud enough should be entitled to extract unlimited rents in perpetuity"
I don't support rent seekers no matter how good their PR campaigns are

What do I mean when I say everything in Obsidian should feel instantaneous?

No more than 0.1 seconds.

The target was established in 1968 by Robert Miller and well described in 1993 by Jakob Nielsen here:
