There've been a couple of streams of Sparrow Warfare by now but Mike explains the rules and analyses the design decisions like no one else. Watch it to get good and mostly actually true theories about why I things are how they are. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq_U...

Our game has saving but doesn't have loading just yet. People out there don't even know how difficult the latter is compared to the former.

Jacek Dukaj’s novel Ice (a title that has aged badly) is maybe the best alternative history book I’ve ever read. Somewhere between Pynchon, Tokarczuk and Strugatsky. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_(Du...

Can confirm. I've been one of those bike riders trailing a snow plough once in a while and if you look at the street you can see that this happens before the car-part of the road is cleared. Best cycling town!

Bold to declare that 76% of leading researchers are wrong but we live in the age of vibe-based anything, so let's just brush away critical thinking.
A pretty bold comment in Nature written by linguists, computer scientists and philosophers declaring that AGI has been achieved.

"By reasonable standards, including Turing’s own, we have artificial systems that are generally intelligent. The long-standing problem of creating AGI has been solved."

Game development is compiling ffmpeg from source with ogg theora support in order to transcode a video to ogv format and then realising that 3 images in a transition-coat will do the trick nicely.

Yes this video also shows my desperate sticker game on the much-hated Windows machine. The stickers themselves are great though. Thanks Triband, David Lynch and @beingbrin.bsky.social!
We're playing lots of demos as we get our own one ready to launch for Sparrow Warfare, and we want to share the best ones along the way.

Here's @martinpi.bsky.social playing PLUTO - a weird and wild demo with a super unique mechanic. Give it a try!

Speaking of upgrading – here's a thing that other engines do too but I just like how nimble the approach in Godot is.
What engine are you folks using out there to make your indie games?

Very good thread about how RETVRN-shaped vapid AI art is nothing we have to fear more than other forms of reactionary entertainment. A lot of hope there that I appreciate.
to explain in detail what i want to say would take too long, but fundamentally, people are shaped by these messages but a bulk of people are also naturally creative, innovative, boundary-pushing and countercultural

natural-born creatives are wired to reject old & make new.

One interesting change from Unity to Godot is that I'm upgrading the engine during a project. With Unity, you usually stick to an LTS version for the whole project duration (if your games are as small as mine). With Godot you move to each new build as there's more focus on continuity.

Finally had to drop by in code signing hell for a bit today. Not a nice place. Couldn't resolve it but I can assure you that the ugliness of the glass interface is not the main reason not to upgrade to Tahoe.

Tempted to scream some politics into this here void but everyone who agrees with me already does. I just say one thing: two party systems are proto-democracies at best. You should have updated your government's firmware a long time ago.

There's a proposal to create a reduced emissions zone right around the area where I live and while my house is on the border of it I would still find it amazing. Hope it goes through. Electric mobility for the win.

Excellent text on AI in the classroom that, as a bonus, taught me the word "logorrheic" which I will make ample use of in the future.

11 years in Denmark today. When I moved here this was a cosy place that the rest of the world pretty much ignored. I miss those simpler times.
