Interesting that all the big companies still retain control of their technology stack by building in-house engines. In my opinion open source engines like Godot, LÖVE and Luxe are more similar to those than Unity. They are just communally developed engines with source code access for everyone.

I will add a few more modifiers to our Daily Run mode but there's already a guarantee of 2600 possible combinations. Should keep things interesting for a while (and impossible to test fully).

I've made a Chinese subtitles version of our trailer. Do you speak Chinese? Is it too fast? Did I garble something?

This smells of panic. I haven't dug into the proposed legislation yet but I assume it's only an issue for free-to-play games aimed at kids, so there's not much to fear for other game developers or the industry as a whole.

Incidentally Power Play was a magazine-in-a-magazine in Happy Computer. Happy Computer taught me the basics of programming, or at least eased the confusion and took the fear of breaking things away.

I read about it in my favourite games magazine, Power Play, when I was a teenager. Since I could only get my hands on a handful of games per year there was no way I could ever play it. But the aesthetics just blew me away.

There's a slight jolting in my particles sometimes (about 1 second into the video). I have no idea why #godot would not be able to handle a couple hundred particles on the GPU but something is strange.

Quite happy with how some of the backgrounds in our game have come together. All mountains are actual mountains I photographed in Yangshuo and traced by hand. This rainforest I've only been to virtually though.

Switched the font to a rounder and more fun one. Made the characters much smaller and spaced more apart. Switched to vertical. What do you think?
