I know how tempting it is to answer with pessimism or cynicism and you know, maybe you'll be right. But even if you are, nobody is going to find you in a year and say "Good call!" So if you feel like being doomy, I'd like you to pause and consider for a moment the rich possibilities of not replying.

Someone from Alaska flirted with me on that job! In Feb. 2001 I took a call from a customer in what was then called Barrow and is now called Utqiaġvik, the northernmost city in the U.S. She and I had fun talking. We finished her order (1/2)
Randomly saw the number 907, which thanks to the call-center job I had from 2001 to 2004 will always make me think "Alaska's area code."

Darn, we missed the chance to do this with DODGEBALL
If A24 & General Mills had any nerve they would‘ve released these on grocery store shelves nationally.

An interesting note: my 11yo got a CD boombox and has spent more time listening to few CDs on repeat in her room than using Tidal/Bluetooth downstairs. Ownership + intention is appealing to her. For now, I'll keep sampling bands to her in the car but happily buy her their CDs if this holds up.
Someone said it before me, but I've repeated it a few times:

Everything went wrong when someone decided music should be free.

EVERYTHING.
I’ve spent this morning morbidly watching the MTV channels close down and the final songs played were:
MTV Music - Video Killed the Radio Star (Buggles)
Club MTV - Don’t Stop the Music (Rihanna)
MTV 90s - Goodbye (Spice Girls)
MTV 80s - Together in Electric Dreams (Oakey and Moroder)

If you haven’t been masking up lately, now would be a great time to restart.

I'm just very tired of hearing, "Most folks are not bigoted but if you don't guide them very softly away from their unconscious bigotry you'll alienate them & they'll never change." It is bonkers to expect the disadvantaged to allow the advantaged to set the terms & timeline for change, FOREVER.
