A friend has just drawn my attention to this excellent piece of pop trivia. Grant (Four Names) Shapps is the cousin of Mick Jones of The Clash... Shapps' brother, Andre Shapps, played keyboards for Big Audio Dynamite, the band formed by Mick Jones after The Clash.

He has devalued it so much that he wouldn't accept a fair bid for what it's now worth. Any bid above that rewards his vandalism and takes away resources for repair

When I see stuff like this, I'm happy to see how far we've come, and how animals don't have to be harmed for our benefit, but I'm still left wondering why the cost of this miracle, life saving medicine is so expensive still. The only thing that makes sense is pure greed.

Got to feel sorry, at least to some extent, for whoever wrote today's speech for Starmer. No-one's going to hear a word of it, it'll barely get reported, because it's just not remotely where the news agenda is right now. Suspect it's only gone ahead because cancelling it would look panicked.
