My first blog post in a while. Carney and Canada have abandoned the 1.5 and 2 degree targets.

I'm going to try to get a few out in the run up to COP 30.
Canada has abandoned the 1.5 and 2 degree targets
What does it mean to abandon something? It means to “cease to support or look after (someone); desert,” to “give up completely (a course of action, a practice, or a way of thinking)” or to “discont…

Even funnier that this is peak Streisand Syndrome. I doubt this would have caused nearly the splash of he hadn’t spent the last two days desperately trying to prove her wrong. Which of course is proving her right.
incredibly funny that Joyce Carol Oates owned Musk so hard he's started trying to post like a regular person with normal interests

This. Corporations are a fiction that we allow to exist for reasons (whether good or bad is irrelevant). If one harms society, society should not hesitate to remove it.

For reasons of self-flagellation I was just watching the Tesla shareholder meeting. Can confirm that it’s a cult.

Not only NYT of course, but this x100
There's been a real erosion of local news, but at the same time while NYT doesn't publish lies, they do publish things fully decontextualized leading you to come to false conclusions. A whole story can be made up of nothing but true statements and still lead you to believe a lie.

It is becoming increasingly obvious that the US needs to be isolated and all countries need to remove all reliance on them and their economy.
The rules have changed: "US accused of threatening EU diplomats during bid to kill green shipping rules. Negotiators at shipping talks in London were told both they and their countries could be punished unless they voted with the U.S." www.politico.eu/article/us-a...

Mike “I don’t know anything about it” Johnson. Nice legacy.
Raju: Last week, you were very critical of Biden, you said he didn’t even know who was pardoning. On 60 minutes, Trump admitted not knowing he pardoned a crypto billionaire guilty of money laundering. Is that also concerning?

Johnson: I don’t know anything about it.

I remember growing up in a conservative household I was told about how in communist dictatorships, the people starve while the leaders build opulent palaces and ballrooms. Anyway, not sure why I brought that up.

This isn’t it. If you’re having a disagreement with someone who is clearly NOT Russian (which I think is rather obvious in my case), why would you say something like this. Nothing I said was idiotic or pro Russian in any way. WTF??

I just wanted to remind people that boycotts definitely do NOT work 🙄. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed …after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.” Lol, I’ll-timed. Sure, Disney.

The Dangerous Targeting of a Canadian Journalist | The Tyee
After the murder of Charlie Kirk, conservatives piled on Rachel Gilmore for expressing a well-founded fear. Then came violent threats.

Jesus Christ.

A standing ovation — from Liberals too — for Charlie Kirk in the Canadian House of Commons.

You can (and should) oppose political violence without doing all this, you know.

Abundance bro ragebait: I think "Not in my back yard or anyone else's because the thing is pointless and dumb" is a perfectly valid thing to say and often Good Actually.

Whereas "Not in my back yard, but in that faraway disadvantaged person's back yard instead" is trash.

When people say "if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to fear." the correct response is:

"I need privacy, not because my actions are questionable, but because your judgement and intentions are."
