If you build more housing, you increase the tax base, solving the top two problems at once. Surely you have the time to get this done now that you’re done endorsing sex pests for NYC mayor, Gov. Lamont. www.courant.com/2025/11/07/h...
Housing and taxes are top issues facing CT, poll says. What’s being done
CT lawmakers passed the housing bill despite opposition and Gov. Lamont vetoed it. They’re poised to revisit it in a special session

Does Ned Lamont *want* to lose the Dem primary?

Someone should tell Ned Lamont that the theory that taxing the wealthy will cause them to flee the state is bullshit.

It would not be possible for the Democratic Party to lunge any further toward the center. At least not in three-dimensional space.
Let me get this straight. You want to do a total rebuild of the Democratic party a year before the most important midterms in history?

Are you OK?

Are you high?

In all seriousness, progressives should wholeheartedly embrace “vibe warfare.” We can win with that shit.

Our vibe: you should be able to afford rent and groceries.

Their vibe: we’re gonna kidnap your immigrant neighbors and friends, and we’re gonna inspect the genitals of children.
There's been so many Islamophobic posts on X over the past 24+ hours. But what do you even call this dumb ass shit?

I guess it’s not surprising that a Greenwich millionaire is standing in the way of addressing our housing crisis, but it’s still disappointing.
Connecticut Gov Ned Lamont just announced that he will veto HB5002 because he wants local governments to take the lead.

Expecting the local governments that have created the housing shortage by reserving 80% of their land for McMansions on one-acre lots to lead on zoning reform is a fool’s errand.
The veto of HB5002 a 🧵1/ a lot

If only we gathered a group of municipal leaders and both sides of the aisle, and advocates and listened to experts . . . Spent six months on the Majority Leader’s Round Table learning how best to move forward in the 2nd most constrained housing market in the country.

In the wake of the 2016 Electoral College shitshow (and with the scar of 2000 still festering in my mind), I naively thought that all we needed was a massive electoral overhaul. And we do need that! But none of it would make a difference in this disinformation-heavy media environment.
This is the crucial revelation of authoritarian movements in the 21st C: you don't have to hide what you're doing. If you create an information ecosystem dysfunctional enough, mistrustful enough, fragmented enough, you can act in the open, confident that the truth will never be clearly conveyed.

More bad faith bullshit from small-town Connecticut. One of the residents complained that they moved to East Windsor for the views, which amuses me because the thing I most associate EW with is the biggest, ugliest parking lot I’ve ever seen. www.courant.com/2025/05/15/p...

It’s not news that Hartford Courant continues to publish this utility propaganda as if it has any substance (spoiler: it’s a But Her Emails story), but today’s is different because @volts.wtf makes a cameo!
CT utility wants PURA chief disqualified. New email surfaces they say shows ‘bias.’
The regulatory filings show no sign of deescalating what has become more than a year of contention and mistrust between PURA and major Connecticut utilities.

Most autistic people will never hit a bear cub with their car, will never bring a dead bear cub home with the intent to eat it, will never dump the body of a dead bear cub in Central Park.

sprawl is an unmitigated environmental, social, and economic disaster

it is no longer affordable (especially when you add in transportation and time)

sprawl is driving climate change. literally.

and it is a ponzi scheme - unable to fund maintenance and replacement costs
Not a single time in this article glorifying the need for sprawl to address the US's affordable housing crisis is there a mention of the vast transportation costs of sprawling living patterns. Nor is there mention of the fact that sprawl is directly linked to disinvestment in urban cores.
America Needs More Sprawl to Fix Its Housing Crisis
The word has become an epithet for garish, reckless growth — but to fix the housing crisis, the country needs more of it.
