CBO makes clear that the GOP megabill achieves cost savings by taking health care away.

Real Medicaid costs are supposed to rise just 5% over the decade despite aging population (as opposed to 61% for Medicare).

The reason it's so low is decline in people receiving Medicaid.

Wow. CBO estimates that U.S. consumers bear 95 PERCENT OF THE TRUMP TARIFFS.

Basically, foreign firms bear 5% of them, U.S. companies bear 30% of them but other U.S. companies get to raise prices on consumers from less competition so that nets to zero.

And consumers pay rest.

This is as good as any contrast between Trump and Biden: state capacity to help people from predatory capital is done. Instead the only growth in state capacity is is in building its coercive powers.
Kate is a reporter for the American Banker. Trump’s DOJ & CFPB turn a predatory lending discrimination lawsuit into an anti-immigrant crusade. Instead of providing restitution for victims of discrimination they use $ to fund more police resources aimed at “illegals.” (Full article paywalled.)

75 years ago a young actor sang on national TV in Spanish and was among the most watched shows for many years. Americans didn’t lose their minds or boycott the network for airing it. In fact…I Love Lucy is still loved by millions and still airing in reruns. Thanks Desi Arnez for leading the way.

A stunning detail the ICE chief shared in this hearing that was supposed to be a brag, except it isn't: ICE has arrested 379,000 people between Jan. 2025-Jan. 2026 -- but only 8,700 were suspected gang members or known suspected terrorists.
