Saw Thunderbolts last night and it has replaced Winter Soldier as my #1 Marvel movie. I can’t wait to talk about it when every thought I have won’t be a major spoiler.

I was today years old when I learned that “restaurateur” does not have an “n” in it. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So, this is bad.
BREAKING: Police just surrounded Rev. William Barber, prominent activist and pastor, as he and others prayed in the U.S. Capitol Rontunda.

Police then expelled everyone (including press!) from the Rotunda to (presumably) arrest them.

I've covered protests here a lot. Never seen anything like it.

The Kings: Best we can do is overtime playoff hockey.

I just spent an hour at the DMV and it was absolutely PACKED, but everyone was being patient and polite. The two dudes who met in the line behind me compared notes about the best AA meetings because one guy was new to town and didn’t like the one he tried.

These are the moments that give me hope.

In person: The LA Kings winning the 2014 Stanley Cup in Game 5, after playing all 7 games in each of the previous 3 rounds. The team was so exhausted and banged up that they were playing by sheer force of will.

TV: Freddie Freeman's walk off grand slam in Game 1 of the World Series last year.
What is the all-time greatest sports moment you saw live (either in person or on TV)?

Yes to this whole thread.
I cannot stress enough that how we talk and think about depictions of AI both irl and in fiction is a part of this.

Robots, droids, AI are almost always placeholders for laborers. The work they do isn’t valued and neither are they.

That both reflects and impacts how we think about labor irl.
The bipartisan belief that America would be a better place if *other people* worked in a factory.

i do not think the mainstream press is equipped or capable of covering ideological white nationalists and eugenicists as such, or even capable of noting that this is what they are. it is related to the wide belief that racism is simply a matter of manners.
It would appear CNN was also at the eugenics conference? Why are all these mainstream news orgs at a 200-person event where all the speakers are eugenicists and racists? www.cnn.com/2025/04/11/u...

One of my friends just described the current shitshow as “Kafka meets Noises Off” and it might be the most accurate description I’ve heard to date.

Just did a quick look at a few channels on YouTube livestreaming Senator Booker's marathon speech. Currently:

C-SPAN - 66k+ live viewers
Cory Booker's channel - 49k+
AP - 41k+
MSNBC - 14k+
PBS NewsHour - 8.3k+

This matters. Optics matter. Seeing leadership DO SOMETHING matters.
