“The full impact of the executive order will take decades to realize, since already-tenured faculty are not affected by the new policy. But its scope is significant: Oklahoma’s regional and community colleges employed more than 900 tenured professors in 2024, according to federal data.“
Tenure Will Be Eliminated at Most of Oklahoma’s Public Colleges, Governor Says
Gov. J. Kevin Stitt, a Republican, directed the state’s two-dozen regional universities and community colleges to phase out the practice. Existing faculty members will be grandfathered in.

Excellent. Shut it down. Then we can go to the arrests and prosecutions.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune said Thursday that demands made by Democrats for new restrictions on federal immigration officers are “unrealistic” and warned that the Department of Homeland Security will shut down next week if they do not work with Republicans and the White House.

Because these monsters cannot ever, ever be allowed ot lose at anything. No one, in their warped view, is ever allowed to tell them no.

Every last one of them MUST be removed from office, prosecuted, and locked up for their crimes. No cowardly "the American people want us to look forward" bullshit.

Super interesting 🧵 on darkness and how we conceive of it (both legally and culturally). 🔭🧪
There’s an interesting lawsuit out of Connecticut I’ve been following that rests on the question of whether darkness — yes, darkness, the primordial Erebus himself— is a natural resource. Here’s why that’s potentially a big deal.

They’ve been on this for a minute. More teaching + post tenure review (and contracts) plus ai supercharged productivity surveillance tools also makes professors more vulnerable to student evals, which gives admin more power to fire you. That’s the plan.
"Imposing minimum teaching requirements...has been touted as a way to cut costs and 'better focus university resources in the classroom,' .... The notion is also gaining steam in conservative circles as a means of ensuring faculty productivity and curbing 'intellectually unserious' research."
The Campaign to Make Professors Teach More
Lawmakers say faculty members don’t work enough. Is this about productivity or punishment?

this unprecedented momentum behind a single issue sure might be a useful fulcrum to try and wrench this country back from over the brink
74% of Democrats support abolishing ICE, with 53% *strongly* supporting it, according to YouGov polling from last month.

Weak calls for "reform" are coming from *elected* Democrats like Chuck, not the average Democratic voter.
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

just like how California is working on passing a bill that bans ICE from becoming in-state teachers or law enforcement officers, we need to work on States banning ANYONE named in the Epstein files from serving in government.

we also need to pass bills to freeze assets and investigate.
