It’s stupid to be NIMBY or YIMBY. Can we all be MIMBY? Sometimes new stuff is good, but sometimes it is not.

Joe Rogan mighty quiet. Theo Von? Andrew Schulz? Tony Hinchcliffe? Where y'all at? After years of swearing to us that y'all are warriors for "free speech" in comedy, y'all church mice all of a sudden?

Don’t attend a conference in the US for any reason.
This story about South Koreans with visas (!!!) who were detained is utterly insane.

B-1 & visa waiver program visas allow you to do "business activities" like meetings or presentations (which they did).

If that now risks getting thrown in jail, conferences in the US are sounding awfully dangerous
US officers tied us up and pointed guns at us, South Korean engineers tell BBC
Korean workers who were detained in the US say they were treated like criminals and are still in shock.

Cancel Disney+ now if you have it. Don’t go to Disney parks. Hit these fascists where it hurts most for them: their wallets.

I like the glass look of iOS 26, but it makes every other app look flat as hell once you leave the Home Screen. Glassify it all.

Delta lets you board the plane early if you check your bag. The only incentive I have to board a plane early is to get an overhead bin so I don’t have to check my bag. Give me some money then we’ll talk, Delta.

One of the main benefits of doing a US PhD is the extra time you get, that's one of the big reasons I advised my students to apply for US programmes. We offer a four year degree here, there'd be no advantage over us. The US is euthanising its massive advantage in research for no good reason.
I know there's a lot happening today, but this is sneaking in under the radar. This proposed new rule would absolutely crush foreign PhD students, potentially making it impossible for them to enroll with any certainty of their ability to finish www.politico.com/news/2025/08...

I really wish I could sincerely tell my kids all the exciting new things I expect will happen in the world in their lifetimes, like what was done for me by my parents in the 80s/90s/00s. But I can’t lie to them, so I say nothing of what I imagine for the future.
