I remember the phrase "they can't be allowed to melt back into society" re: the de-Baathification of Iraq after the war there. Like everything about that experience, the attempt was cynical, stupid, and botched. But there really should be a plan about what we do with guys like these in the future.

I actually agree with this but I don't think telling Richard Hanania how smart he is or promoting Walton funded push-polls really counts as combatting the right
IMO it's hard to combat the dangerousness of the right by participating in a platform where they aren't present.
I think the best way to explain the X vs Bluesky preference is whether a person thinks the left is more annoying than the right is dangerous.
The reason so many Noah Smiths end up on the X side of that equation is that while the left annoys them personally, the right mostly endangers other people.

At this point I'm rooting for this to be a heist team of African artists that will exhibit Napoleon's jewelries in a National Museum in Kinshasa or Nairobi and when Macron demands it back they say: clearly you can't keep these objects safe, we should keep them here for the world to see its heritage.
I always wondered why France had so many heists but if you can still just put a ladder up to a window on the Louvre in the year 2025 and get away with a big bag full of priceless jewels I guess that solves the mystery

An example of how we’ve let LLM companies dictate the terms of this conversation. using this Image that implies machines and LLMs are capable of feelings and then using this term “slur” to describe insulting…a complicated search algorithm.
