BREAKING: PlayStation is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the studio responsible for modern remakes of classic games such as Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, Bloomberg News has learned.

A shocking end for a well-respected studio.

And after all that, the Pitt/Cruise AI fight scene appears to have been just digital BG and face replacement on multi-angle green screen reference videos of two real live human stuntees fighting.

In other words, like most AI hype — it was a con. www.shokunin.studio/blog/2026/2/...

AI is revolutionizing the world! A Playstation now costs $5,000 and this is the last phone you will ever own.
“.. ‘many system vendors will go bankrupt or exit product lines due to a lack of memory. Mobile phone production will be reduced by 200-250 million units, and PC and TV production will be significantly reduced.’ Yikes.”

i think lots of people underestimate how badly these “AI” companies want people to be unable to afford computers. they view personal computing as a roadblock to their desire for complete end-to-end centralization. the fact that their tech is putting hardware out of reach is not just a happy accident

Godot's GitHub has increasingly many pull requests generated by LLMs and it's a MASSIVE time waster for reviewers – especially if people don't disclose it. Changes often make no sense, descriptions are extremely verbose, users don't understand their own changes… It's a total shitshow. #godotengine

This isn't quite the employment law update most of us wanted, but some of the things in here are huge.

* E-balloting for strikes instead of physical mailed ballots
* Simplified industrial action rules
* Lowered required threshold for recognition

Over the next few months, the UK will see sweeping changes to laws governing unionisation and industrial action

Over 1,000 Ubisoft workers around the world have walked off the job.

In response to a return-to-office mandate, layoffs, and the cancellation of several games, workers launched a three-day strike.

The workers walked out in response to five French unions issuing the strike call.

I've been part of a skeleton crew as they call it, and let me tell you, it is hell. Nobody to offer guidance, tasks dumped on you, and the realization that nobody in leadership truly knows what you used to do in the first place, and thus you start questioning your own abilities and legitimacy.

how bad do you have to fuck up to allow an exploit in fucking NOTEPAD
The AI features added to Notepad created a critical exploit vulnerable to loading a compromised txt file.

The fix is part of Patch Tuesday, so update your systems.

AI is not a feature I ever desired in Notepad. I should look into some alternatives...
AI-upgraded Notepad now exposes Windows users to critical exploit

I don't think most people understand just how much mistreatment of workers there is in the games industry and just how bad it is sometimes.
I do love being in a union and feeling like I'm helping ppl but omg do games studios like making life difficult for so many workers! Dealing with management nonsense, even in relatively decent companies, is freaking exhausting!

It is insane how inevitable this felt - that the industry has forced itself into a corner ensuring that every FPS team has to work on a competitive service shooter that has a 99% chance of crashing on launch.
Wildlight (Highguard) lays off staff according to a LinkedIn post

"Unfortunately, along with most of the team at Wildlight, I was laid off today.

This one really stings as there was a lot of unreleased content I was really looking forward to that I and others designed for Highguard."

We are rooting for Ubisoft's employees and fully support the strike coming next week.

As videogames workers, we need to stand united to demand and obtain better work conditions & more ethical practices overall. We can -and will- make our industry better! 💫

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
