theres a part of me that thinks this is a calculation where politicians are trying to convince us we're at war cos things have got so bad & continue to decline but never for them, so theyre trying to build a narrative on combined sacrifice on top of the usual migrant scapegoating
honestly these people believe the country has been at war since 2016 because for the first time in their lives they didn't get their desired result from a vote. we have to do something about the chronically middle class.
