“trump is racist” is in fact very salient given what he did here and if you do not comprehend that then you should fuck off back to playing with computers or whatever
Sorry if you think "Trump is racist" is suddenly politically salient in 2026 and don't think mainstreaming election lies poses the bigger problem ...

Here’s the thing…

Your friends’ neighborhoods would not be occupied if this didn’t happen.

The other thing…if folks would have cared about Black and Brown communities HERE a fraction of what they claim to care about Palestine your friends’ neighborhood wouldn’t be occupied.

I could keep going…

"Ellie, are you saying you think that you should have to be a certain level of smart/educated to get social clout" I'm saying that people who sounded a certain way used to be smart/educated and now those people all got purged/forced into industry (hey, it's me!) & now people who sound like that suck

as always, I point to the way that Charles Guiteau was portrayed in Death by Lightning as a transhistorical example of this: someone who desperately wants the social clout of people who have a deeper understanding he doesn't have, who can copy the surface traits & sometimes fit in above his station

I think this is a cargo cult of how academia used to be; stereotypical tumblr was the first iteration of this, with (largely) smart teenagers/youth outside of academia copying a form of communication that appeared to have social capital, and this is that degraded all the way to YouTube comments
This was a reply on a video of an Italian American showing how to make pasta e piselli, THE WAY HIS ITALIAN GRANDMOTHER MADE.
There's a sentiment here that's ...fine, out of context, but when in context, it's ...what the fuck? Why are you doing this? And then you go to their profile and see a ghost

This to me is a little incoherent, or at least inconsistent in how it uses labels (compare the use of "lib", "neoliberal", but it does seem to an accurate description of what many leftists actually believe.

The way to square this circle is to simultaneously believe that

1. Leftists are few, but consistent Democratic voters and
2. Leftist *policies* would attract money voters who don't count as leftists for these purposes, but should for their coalition strength.
If:
-The loss in 2024 wasn't due to leftists abstaining
-There are a huge number of voters who weren't won over

Then:
The people who need to be won over aren't leftists

I don't think they're politically coherent; they want "normal" and believed people in their bubbles saying that Trump is normal

I think most normal people who aren't bundles of rage in a suit would react in a similar way to a kid interrupting their work.
(seen a bunch of people sharing this/talking in general about how "normal" Mamdani is but imo this doesn't show a normal person, but an *exceptionally* skilled communicator - a normal person wouldn't react like that to having a speech interrupted by a child! give him his due!)
Child at the podium: “A woo woo woo.”

Mamdani: That’s how I felt when we came up with this plan. Together, we will expand the idea of what is possible in our city—and what sounds and noises we can make at a press conference.

Should I just do and delete one of these a day until we all die? (people literally send me screen shots because apparently I’m a notorious bitch).

Remember when everyone pretended to hate the LA Review of Books for like two months because of this person?

If you could slash turnout to pre-Trump levels Democrats would probably win every national election in a blowout. That's an uncomfortable fact for various reasons but important to recognize

I think people don't really understand what the bottom half of the American electorate looks like in terms of political knowledge. What has happened in the extreme-turnout elections of recent years is that decisive numbers of these people have started voted in presidential cycles

She bragged about getting endorsed by Dick Cheney
All the complaints about her campaign are basically stupid nitpicks and the people convinced they’d have changed EVERYTHING by adjusting the words in her ads or whatever are out of their minds. Trump’s support was built out of years of irresponsible false nostalgia for his hellish first presidency

Something I remembered off of reading a TV Tropes page, paraphrasing:

Despite the French Revolution losing, its long-term goals have persisted - no one is seriously advocating for the divine right of kings, and even dictatorships maintain a veneer of liberal democracy.
Liberalism is the method and once you switch it on you literally can't turn it off, ever, in history. You got things like the USSR appealing to a constitution and human rights, or the fucking klan saying they stood for freedom

Uhhh, ya sure. All true. But there are some, um, bigger problems with that "memo."
As far as I know, this is DHS's first effort to explain their position that I-205 forms allow entry into the home. They rely on the dicta in the 1960 Abel case (before Payton) and re-imagine the plurality opinion in Lucas as if it were the majority (and then overrely on it).
