For #RootRootRead book that takes place on an island, I read Siracusa by Delia Ephron. Well written and entertaining book in the genre of “rich white people problems.” Just a book about four awful people.

Just a reminder, the greatest living American historian filmmaker, Ken Burns, released a 720 min exploration of every facet of the American revolution using zero generative AI and paying for all of its assets instead of cobbling it from stolen data, then he gave it away for free on PBS this year.

I took my lunch walk and came back to the news that Catherine O’Hara had passed, so I thought I would share one of my all-time favorite movie lines. She was a legend and ever-present figure in my childhood and I loved seeing her get her due respect as I grew up.

Was listening to The Rest is History’s podcast about Jack the Ripper and it finally made realize I do not give a fuck about Jack the Ripper. Just do not care.

So I’ve started my offseason #RootRootRead journey. First up was book checked out from the library. The Outsider by @stephenking.bsky.social was another stop on my Holly Gibney journey. She is a character I have come to enjoy very much.

The government is officially shut down. Make no mistake: Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. This is THEIR shutdown. They had every tool to govern and chose chaos instead. The American people are the ones paying the price.
