Finished the Doctor Aphra audio drama for book #5. It was an enjoyable listen. Star Wars really goes all out for their audio books/plays. However I kinda hate Aphra (she’s basically Belloq from Raiders of the Lost Ark), so I was glad to get this out of the way. #RootRootRead

Listened to A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms to get ready for the upcoming show. Enjoyed it very much but have no idea how they’re going to get more than one season out of three stories. Made me realize how much I’ve missed Westeros. #RootRootRead

Next #RootRootRead was book with one word title, so I listened to Bloom by @delilahsdawson.bsky.social. If you need a “what in the fuckity-fuck” read, this is for you. A perfect Halloween book. Just don’t be an idiot and finish it right before bed like I did.

So I’ve started my offseason #RootRootRead journey. First up was book checked out from the library. The Outsider by @stephenking.bsky.social was another stop on my Holly Gibney journey. She is a character I have come to enjoy very much.

And lastly, The Bullet Swallower, a book about dealing with the legacies our ancestors leave us for us. An intriguing read for book that’s a Western. #RootRootRead

For book with mostly blue cover, I read Lilian’s Invincible Summer, a book that serves a memorial to a young woman who was murdered by her abusive boyfriend. Very sad, but beautifully written and can hopefully help other women avoid Liliana’s fate. #RootRootRead

I read We Do Not Part for book by a Nobel Prize winner. It was an experience. If you like beautifully written books that are going to fuck with your head that also contain Korean history you’ve never heard of, this is the book for you. #RootRootRead

So I decided to read The Murders of Richard III for book by author named Elizabeth due to loving Elizabeth Peters’ Amelia Peabody book so much. I do not this way about this book. Boring, and all the characters suck. #RootRootRead

Due to some late reading nights this past weekend I can barely keep my eyes open today, but I wanted @charlessoule.bsky.social to know it was worth it. Trials of the Jedi was an amazing ending to the High Republic. It was so hard to put the book down. I laughed, I cried, I loved. #RootRootRead

Almost forgot The Good Lord Bird by James McBride for book turned into a miniseries. Today’s always a good day to learn more about American hero John Brown and his fight to end slavery, even in fiction form. #RootRootRead

Finished Mr. Mercedes by @stephenking.bsky.social for book that won an Edgar Award. The book really sucks you in and doesn’t let go until the end, which had me on pins and needles. I’ve already started the sequel. The audiobook is fantastic. #RootRootRead

After that I listened to Andrew Rannells’ Uncle of the Year for book by LGBTQ person. It was okay, with some really funny and touching stories and others that were kind of ????. #RootRootRead

For #RootRootRead book that takes in Europe, I read The Rushworth Family Plot, book 5 of the Darcy-Tilney mysteries. I love these books so much and can’t wait for the next one. I need these two nerds to get together already.

I finished @justinaireland.com ‘s A Valiant Vow last night and I enjoyed this delightful, heartfelt novel about a handful of characters that I have grown to love over the last few years. Though the High Republic may be ending, I hope this is not the last I have seen of these characters #RootRootRead

Next was Ann Patchett’s book of essays, These Precious Days. I listened to the audiobook and it turns out Patchett is an engaging narrator herself. Her stories of her personal life are just as intriguing and well told as her novels #RootRootRead

Read the newest in the Hunger Games series, Sunrise on the Reaping, for #RootRootRead. Was it a necessary prequel? No. Was it enjoyable anyway with some new insight into Haymitch? Yes. Suzanne Collins can drop one of these every few years for the rest of life and I’ll read it.

Finished listening to I Am C-3PO by Anthony Daniels for #RootRootRead. I enjoyed the behind the scenes look into some of my favorite films, and in the audiobook you get the full C-3PO effect.
