I wonder if Kimmel knew he would be that emotional in the monologue. I'm glad. He could have been a bulletproof smartass, but instead he was a human who was genuinely touched by the support he received in the face of actual authoritarian bullshit, and he was appropriately mad about the bullshit.

It shouldn’t surprise us that AI is a tool used by the police state of 1984 to keep the population in check. As it advances, its uses are likely to become more sinister: mass surveillance, the building of weapons systems, an endless flood of slop and distractions.
