Someone should ask Starmer and Mahmood whether they think the Kindertransport, for example, should have been a return ticket. Whether Alf Dubs, rather than becoming a Labour MP and now Lord, ought to have been sent back with his family to Czechoslovakia once it was liberated from German rule.
This contribution to the volume of human misery is yet another policy from Labour based on a false premise, in this case that refugees are overly attracted to Britain. It will increase bureaucratic limbo, thus making worse the problem of "cohesion" it purports to solve.

UK set to limit refugees to temporary stays
Shabana Mahmood is expected to say the era of permanent protection for refugees is over, in major changes to the UK's asylum and immigration system.

I’ve spent the afternoon filling out an online form to allow me to use a solicitor to sell my mothers house
It wasn’t easy and you need a lot of knowledge about how to drive your mobile phone
I did know how some people manage
Considering the high cost why do I have to do all this stuff

I love the Christmas lights in Sheffield this year.

Especially the trees at the top of Fargate and in Leah’s Yard.

Meet Pete the cat, my studio assistant.
According to him, he’s in charge of picking and packing, stocktaking, order wrapping and logistics management.
Pete says I’d be nothing without him. He might be right.

This is a longer musing on what Michael Gove and Nick Gibb got very wrong on education. Because they’d never taught anyone, and wouldn’t listen to the people who had.

You know the part in Holy Grail where Michael Palin's character talks about all the castles he's built on top of swamps that you thought was just a bit of Python silliness?
(See attached thread)
i fully agree with this theory and in my actual field, british architectural history, The Problem is that Salisbury Cathedral is built on top of a lake and no i am not exaggerating
between this and the FSO Safer (another ship at serious risk of exploding) I’m convinced every field has its “yeah, this is the problem that keeps me up at night” and I’m on a quest to learn about all of them
