THREAD. A collection of photos I have taken of scarecrows I have stumbled across during walks in the British countryside over the last fifteen years.

19 years ago, a teenager who got early release immediately went out and murdered (and did many other horrible things) to a friend of mine. No accountability. More stringent assessment of eligibility still sorely needed.

My new, iconic cat is finally on my iconic lap. An iconic moment.

'COMING SOON: Season 2 of this iconic series', said a bus advert earlier, about something I've never heard of.
1) That's not how iconic works
2) Even if it was, nothing that's only on its second series could ever be iconic
3) Stop it
4) I can't remember what the series was, so no need to ask

Missed a phone call today to offer a last-minute appointment for this week; rang back immediately... appointment gone. They offered another for next month... somewhere 1.5 hours away. Nae. So I'm back on the waitlist...
Received a NHS referral I enquired about and the wait time is SIXTY ONE WEEKS. So that's November 2026, to simply ask questions about a possible procedure. I took this same appointment in Belgium (to compare) and had to wait four days. #SaveTheNHS

Us v them: I told someone I really liked her coat since I'm still on the hunt for a warm, waterproof one for winter. She told me where to find it and said 'it was really inexpensive, too!'. Had a look. It's £200.

Artists who get stuff printed. I print my own prints but find printing companies are better for cards and postcards. Do any of you have a favourite?

Have barely been out over the last week and my 1.5 hours of having to stand to look at art yesterday has put paid to today's plan for a cinema double. The worst bit of my back pain is when I exhale, so if I could just stop breathing everything would be fine.

I enjoyed hobbling round the Open Studios in Albion Road today, in the (briefly sunny) shadow of Hibs stadium. Bought a couple of small bits and had some nice artsy chats.

Yesterday met a couple who had returned to live in UK after a couple of decades in Belgium.
'We had no idea how awful things are here. I could phone my doctor in Brussels now, and get an appointment for Monday morning.'

It’s almost 90 years old, it’s cheesy and it’s a travesty of English history but it became the model for every action movie that followed. The Adventures of Robin Hood was 1938’s top-grossing movie… bit.ly/3Lsn62Q
