No-one seems to have noticed, but many of the core developments in the Mandelson/Epstein story these last few days have been broken on this website. @pickardje.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social are both posting each breaking development on BlueSky, not X.

So Starmer, a man who never met Epstein but made a bad appointment, might resign. But Trump, his closest friend, fellow sex abuser and coverer-upper of his crimes, is going nowhere.

That’s how it works, isn’t it?

BREAKING: Nigel Farage calls for an end to working from home and the focus on work-life balance

"People aren't more productive working from home - it's a load of nonsense”

A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Department’s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and states’ rights.
Federal judge rules DOJ can ‘no longer’ be trusted in voter roll crusade
The judge pointed to a letter from Bondi to Minnesota that tied federal immigration enforcement to demands for voter data as the smoking gun.

This old article on Morgan McSeeney by Peter Oborne is fantastic:
The End of Morgan McSweeney: Peter Oborne on Keir Starmer's Departing Chief of Staff
As McSweeney resigns, we re-publish Peter Oborne’s Byline Times reporting on how Keir Starmer's chief strategist drove Labour towards defeat by the far-right

One of the numerous reasons why I could never become PM is that I'd now go full scorched earth if I was Starmer.

11am Wednesday - release the 2019 Russia report in full. No one will care about PMQs.

2pm Wednesday - announce application for fully rejoining EU.

Populist playbook - flood the zone.

Staggering that Jeff Bezos, one of the richest men in the world, fired more than 300 Washington Post staff and didn’t even bother to arrange for them to get safely home.

Left abandoned in war zones and having to crowd source to get home.

Since #bbclaurak is trending, let’s remind ourselves that ONE MONTH ago, the BBC invited Mandelson on for a soft-ball interview on her show. While HIS CLIENT , Palantir’s Louis Moseley appeared as a pundit

Both, as I wrote at time, were ‘abject failures of journalism’

While there is justified outrage about Mandelson, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor &others, the relentless media focus on Keir Starmer (who was NOT mentioned in any Epstein file) is overdone.
By contrast, no focus on Farage who WAS mentioned (and who, BTW, applauded the appointment of Mandelson)…

I think it was an idea with very obvious risks, which primarily moved from Mandelson's desire for that position, rather than merit. I also think it is possible both that Mandelson was appointed for his sliminess AND that he misled the gov't about the extent and depth of his sliminess.

So now they are using Mandelson as a political tool to bring down Starmer, whilst pretending that this is Parliament at its best. The villain here is Mandelson, but you could be forgiven for forgetting it.

Making it make sense: Epstein wasn't a global mastermind. He did not orchestrate a vast conspiracy that led us to today.

He was a very rich man with connections to other very rich men. The shared culture of these men is that they have a right to dominate and abuse others without consequence.
