If we invest in education the way we (involuntarily) do in “defence,” imagine what an amazing populace we’d have!

Soon making good my promise to delete my Instagram account and be rid of Meta for good. If you’re following me there and don’t see me anymore after this week, that’s what’s up.

We’re moving in 5 days to a duplex with easy access to the outside as opposed to our current apartment on the 3rd floor. Hoping I haven’t made the wrong decision and made it easier for 1CE to get me in the new place…

I will not be watching or reading any "analyses" about the Democratic party in D.C. I know all about them & their complicity. I'm not interested and I choose to reclaim my time and attention.

There're other kinds of politics to engage & most importantly to do (including in our local communities).

Also, being blamed is temporary if they can deliver something they will be loved for. These fucking cowards apparently have no stomach for uncertainty or their own capacity to get anything done.

Loser behavior through and through.
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.

My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

I was today years old when I found out this was a real sentence in a real book: "I felt the need to explain the lightness of my skin tone, as it often acts as a barrier to people understanding that, despite my appearance, I am indigenous to the Land of Israel"

Rather productive morning writing maybe a third of my chapter for the autoethnographic Asian women scholar book. I can definitely finish this before the new year if I pace it a page a day before then…

My friend, a deaf interpreter, and I have been having conversations about what effective interpretations between US-born and “international deaf” look like and we conclude that this means the interpreters, especially DIs, must be fluent in both the source and target language/language varieties.

Unconsciously reaching for texts on postcolonial interpreting studies during my free time makes me realize where one of my passions truly lies. This, similarly to my piano/organ playing, is not something I’d ever capitalize on. Let’s detach from the modern compulsion to monetize hobbies.

2025 was supposed to be my year of returning to music-making joy. I’ve decided to check in again my Skillshare account that I accidentally signed up for the beginning of this year and develop a concrete plan. First step: How to sight read music sheets *faster*

Trying to get on social media less often because being angry 24/7 is not good for my spleen, but will increase active work in person and just use social media for event details and connecting to likeminded folks doing similar work.

I shouldn't be so surprised at people still navel-gazing in their work and lives and being apolitical when literally earth-shattering things like this are happening more frequently now. My family is sitting tight in Manila, waiting for The Big One to hit.

It's good practice to lead with what you are doing rather than with what others aren't. Share what you are doing and invite others to join you.
