At least, you need to get people on board via the "what's in it for me?" line of reasoning, then once they're happily distracted, sneak in a few wildlife corridors and pesticide exclusions...? πŸ˜†

The UK has lost over 96 % of its hedgehogs since the 1960s.

Habitat loss, pesticides and rodenticides, road accidents and nest disturbance are all driving local extinctions.

Please study ways make your neighbourhood friendly to hedgehogs. And support rehabilitation centres like wildlifeaid.co.uk.
It’s #NationalHedgehogDay and whilst these prickly pals hibernate through their party, there’s so much we can do to protect them! You can help by leaving a gap in your fence, creating log piles for shelter, avoiding using pesticides & letting small areas of green spaces grow wild. πŸ¦”πŸŒΏ

"This urgent panel will examine the European Commission’s 2025 proposal allowing open-ended, potentially unlimited pesticide approvals, which would undermine scientific assessment, endanger human health and environment, and contradict principles of precaution and sustainability."
In collaboration with the CII, we invite you to join the webinar β€œPreventing Pesticide Effects on Children’s Health and Protecting the Environment”.

Happy #NationalHedgehogDay! πŸ¦”

While our prickly friends are still snoozing, now is a good time to prep for their wake-up. For example by:

βœ… Creating "Hedgehog Highways" (13cm fence holes) 🏑🐾
βœ… Checking leaf piles before clearing πŸ‚πŸ’€
βœ… Reporting any sick or dead hedgehogs πŸ©ΊπŸ‘©β€πŸ’»

Today we're celebrating #WorldWetlandsDay with our friends at WWTπŸŒΎπŸ’§As much as we need air to breathe, we need water to live. The conservation of our wetlands is essential to life on Earth.

Did you know #wetlands are one of the world’s most biodiverse habitats?

Shouldn't it be entitled "How to successfully push your country's legislature to ban harmful pesticides (including herbicides)"?

Infuriating. Birds can drop dead from the shock waves' impact. Does no-one understand the damage explosive noise inflicts on internal organs, including brains, of all living things? The shock waves etch microstriations on soft tissue linked to concussion-like symptoms and permanent health problems.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

In the 80+ years since we ushered in the age of the nuclear bomb, what is the longest our planet has gone without a nuclear explosion? Answer: 8 years, 4 Months. We just crossed that milestone, which now places us in the longest hiatus so far. Long may it continue.

OK, but will there be some point at which people say, "We have enough, let's focus on the 4% of living things?" Because as we bicker over budgets, the baseline for nature just gets lower and lower.

Even worse, removing those rare earth mineral-rich pebbles from the deep ocean floor deprives oxygen from an ecosystem that's otherwise too far from the surface to support life.
