Nerdlegeddon has hit the UK as 600t of plastic beads clogged Essex beaches.

The "scale of pollution is severe" said Helena Dollimore, Labour MP for Hastings & Rye. "A continuous line of bio-beads stretches along the entire two-mile coastline"
and it's killing wildlife.

UK lost 63% of all insects from 2021-2023. Nature is now developing faster for the worse than human children develop during their growth stage.

Next, demand the release of all captive wild cetaceans.
Amazing news to start the week! 🎉 German travel giant DERTOUR will no longer sell tickets to dolphinariums or attractions keeping whales & dolphins in captivity. After years of campaigning, this is a major win for whales & dolphins. Your turn, TUI. It's time to do the right thing.

England homelessness grown by a fifth since 2022, now 300,000.

Successive govts cut local authority funding in real terms, cut real wages/benefits, no curbs on profiteering, lack of social housing.

Cheaper to build social housing than using temporary accommodation.

Misery is a political choice.
Homelessness figures higher than data suggests, research shows
Official data for England underestimates the scale of the problem, according to research for charity Crisis says.

Did u know? This is one of the most important organisms on earth - moss. It's amazing what it does to maintain healthy ecosystems. It minimises soil erosion; captures carbon; harbours tiny souls in its unique habitat & filters & purifies water & air in its dense structure - make room for moss. 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🦠

For the sake of our kids' developing brains,

For the sake of those of us trying to stay sane...

When you switch from fossil to clean you only use like 30-40% of the energy to do the same stuff, bc most energy from fossil fuels is lost as waste heat

What's I'm trying to say is that all climate action is degrowth

WELCOME TO DEGROWTH EVERYONE
From my file on the IEA's world energy outlook.

"Primary energy" = what goes in

"Final energy" = what comes out

The space in between: mostly lost energy bc burning fossil fuels is absurdly wasteful.

So in the net zero scenario, that gaps closes to zero --->>

#BREAKING | Israeli settlers have uprooted 20 ancient olive trees owned by a Palestinian resident in the village of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, reports the Wafa news agency.

Now we know: Climate denial wins social media likes.
❗New research has found social media platforms amplified climate #disinformation during the Valencia floods last year.

The catastrophic floods claimed 237 lives, destroyed infrastructure and destroyed businesses.
