F-gases are a major source of #PFAS

The UK's PFAS plan only aims to manage F-gas emissions through leakage controls. Even though PFAS free alternatives like CO2 & ammonia are widely available.

We need restrictions on PFAS to reduce pollution🔽

The UK's new #PFAS plan misses real action on source control - including action on PFAS #pesticides🌱

PFAS pesticides are widely used in the UK, in 2022 they were sprayed on more than 10 million hectares of arable crops 🍃

The UK's PFAS Plan falls short on tackling TFA, a persistent and mobile PFAS that forms from PFAS pesticides.
Our research found TFA in 98% of UK rivers. 💧 Denmark have already banned PFAS pesticides linked to TFA. ✅
We need strong action on PFAS pesticides to help tackle TFA pollution. ⚠️

New study links PFAS to elevated MS risk🔬
The UK's new PFAS plan focuses on monitoring, but monitoring won't prevent health impacts like this.
We need source control: time-bound phase-outs from all non-essential uses in the UK.

🚨 New EU report drives home the astronomical costs of PFAS pollution. The research emphasises that a strong universal PFAS restriction is the most cost-effective solution.
A new report from the @ec.europa.eu, published today, confirms what we already knew: the societal costs of PFAS pollution are enormous!
