Rinjiro Hasegawa (1904-1988) Cat, 1966 "It took 6 years to complete this painting. Why?" In "Memories of Tallow" by Rinijiro, he wrote that the cat takes this pose and sleeps like this for only about 9 minutes on only a few days in mid-September each year. It seems to depend on the temperature and cat's feeling. Therefore, "I have to wait until September next year to continue the painting." He was so keen to show the beauty of the cat's that he forgot to paint the whiskers. He added whiskers on one side, but while waiting for the next year, Taro seems to have died from old age" .

Bronze / Bronce In this acute physical and psychological rendering, Claudel emphasized her sitter's broad forehead and robust nose to indicate his formidable creative intellect. She vigorously modeled Rodin's beard to use it as a craggy rock-face base. Unanimously acclaimed when first exhibited in 1892, the composition became Claudel's most famous portrait during her lifetime. This rare cast is one of a series commissioned by the French journal Mercure de France in 1898.

Rainforest + An evening of responses to David Tudor's legendary sound installation. 11/9 Sunday Fridman Gallery 169 Bowery, New York, NY 10002 Rainforest Workshop 3:00—5:00pm Concert: 6:00-8:00 pm In 1974, composer and performer David Tudor dreamed of an Orchestra of Loudspeakers-each unique and capable of different sounds, like the instruments in a classical orchestra. He then composed a series of works called "Rainforest" to realize this dream. In Rainforest, found objects and carefully constructed materials are arranged throughout a space. Special devices called "tactile transducers" are attached to the objects, allowing performers to activate them with sounds of their own choice, creating what Tudor called "an electronic ecosystem." Due to the specific resonance frequencies of each object, each one becomes a very unique loudspeaker. The concert will be preceded by a workshop by Phil Edelstein, one of David Tudor's original collaborators and a founding member of his legendary collective, Composers inside Electronics. Join us for an evening of new works and interpretations inspired by Tudor's visionary approach to sound, space, and materiality.

But the public libraries in tiny Jefferson County in Northern Appalachia were in danger of losing their tax funding thanks to right-wing book banners. And we won. The library's funding is safe!!!!!
Issue 1 Jefferson CO library, FOR 52.18% AGAINST 47.82%.
