Spanning from 1949 to 2025, with five new works completed in the past year, this survey charts Foulkes' lifelong interrogation of American mythologies, his relentless pursuit of the unvarnished image, and his singular ability to collapse nostalgia, rage, humor, and melancholy into one object.

Charles Gaines Numbers and Trees: Tanzania Series 1, Baobab, Tree #2, Zanaki, 2024 acrylic sheet, acrylic paint, photograph, 3 parts photo by Keith Labor “For each of the nine large-scale, three-part works, Gaines starts with a black and white photographic mural depicting a specific baobab tree inset into a five-inch thick, clear acrylic box whose front is completely inscribed by a small grid. Almost every square that corresponds to the image of the tree behind it is assigned a color, as well as given a number. This creates a tinted, numerical veil through which the photograph is seen. From a distance, the grid resembles a wall of colored pixels giving the entire image a Pointillist aura, but Gaines is hardly an impressionist. Rather, these works are about difference — not just the differences in the selection of trees, but how difference resonates, both metaphorically and symbolically” —Jody Zellen

In "Memories of Tallow" by Rinijiro, he wrote that the cat takes this pose and sleeps like this for only about 9 minutes on only a few days in mid-September each year. It seems to depend on the temperature and cat's feeling. Therefore, "I have to wait until September next year to continue the painting." He was so keen to show the beauty of the cat's that he forgot to paint the whiskers. He added whiskers on one side, but while waiting for the next year, Taro seems to have died from old age" .

Bronze / Bronce In this acute physical and psychological rendering, Claudel emphasized her sitter's broad forehead and robust nose to indicate his formidable creative intellect. She vigorously modeled Rodin's beard to use it as a craggy rock-face base. Unanimously acclaimed when first exhibited in 1892, the composition became Claudel's most famous portrait during her lifetime. This rare cast is one of a series commissioned by the French journal Mercure de France in 1898.
