If you’re wondering whether we still need these changes, a driver hit Rob’s ghost bike THIS MORNING

Just minutes after I did this interview, a driver crashed into the ghost bike installed along this stretch. Come on. Let's go here, @scottgillingham.bsky.social, let's do Vision Zero and stop delaying public safety.

1. Campaign on big issues that are directly relevant to your voters

2. Don't get distracted from point one

3. Present as a decent human with manageable baggage

4. Don't be old as fuck.

Go forth and do likewise

Heart beat hate, work beat whining, relationships beat rants, shoe leather beat lawn signs. Elmwood-East Kildonan won big last night, and so did Winnipeg.

Some big personal news: earlier today, I registered as a candidate for Winnipeg city council in the upcoming by-election in Elmwood - East Kildonan! The neighbours, fellow advocates and friends who asked me to run have already hit the ground running!

Can WInnipeg try this please before we add a single lane for motorists anywhere. Just try free transit for three years, and see what happens. It'll still be cheaper than any extension of Chief Peguis Trail, and move more people
Funny thing is, my extremely Republican county has free public transportation because a county commissioner did the math and realized making all the buses free, not just the tourist beach trolley, was in fact cost effective because free buses convinces more people not to drive.
There's a proven way of reducing road congestion but we don't like investing in it because it's socialism so instead we aim for AI tech.

The answer is mass transit.

Many Winnipeggers took time out of their day today to express their disappointment at the lack of any safety improvements to Wellington Cr and were silenced by our gov't - how does Cllr. Orlikow get 5 mins to speak to 5 inanimate street parking spots but those who want their child to be safe don't?
Here’s the moment when Janice Lukes decided democracy wasn’t the right way to run council committee meetings

Janice Lukes is a liar and a bad human being. She’s got no heart. Rob Jenner’s widow, Wendy Van Loon, was in the gallery today when Janice Lukes moved not to hear from 30 delegations duly registered to speak. Rob was killed a year ago to the day that this agenda dropped, further delaying action.
She went on CBC Up to Speed yesterday and acknowledged 30 of us were coming to speak, and said she would listen. THINK AGAIN! She says we can speak on July 3? Unlikely!!

Well, looks like I'm getting everything I wanted. Poilievre losing Carleton will be the icing on top. It's a pity about Elmwood-Transcona. I'll have to wait for cabinet to see about BeyNate.
My three wishes for this election are Winnipeg Centre keeping Gazan as MP (IMO Probable), Dr. Eyolfson goes back to Ottawa, and Nate Erskine-Smith stays Housing Minister.

I might bend my rule not to donate, or volunteer for parties that don't have a strong commitment to proportional representation.

I'm surprised at how many Canadians support denying the charter rights of youth in Canada to vote. I thought progressives would be more supportive of ending the disenfranchisement of 1/4 of the population.

If we wanted an organization with total community participation we’d model it on others that have this aim (regular meetings on weekends, childcare provided, snacks afterwards, people assigned to reach out to anyone attending for the first time)
