I’m seeing more patients recently taking peptides off label. This is an exceptionally well written review, I found it very helpful in understanding the trend and the (lack of) data around these new and unproven meds

If we adopted a true public option (expanded medicare), negotiatated drug prices, and regulated insurers stringently to spread risk (basically Denmark) we would likely spend half as much while covering everyone and no denials of care. Denmark notably has the highest citizen satisfaction ratings.

Elevated preoperative HbA1c was associated with increased risks of complications, readmissions, and mortality in general surgery patients, supporting routine HbA1c screening for all surgical candidates, regardless of diabetes history. ja.ma/4nGcH0Q

Washington Supreme Court Justice Mungia has an extraordinary opinion condemning "the underlying racism and prejudices that are woven into the very fabric" of SCOTUS opinions about Native people.

"We must clearly, loudly, and unequivocally state that was wrong.”

No surprises here
BIOLAP RCT: Use of biological mesh in laparoendoscopic inguinal hernia repair did not reduce postoperative pain and was associated with significantly higher recurrence and seroma rates compared with synthetic mesh.

Yup, this tracks. Still healthier than general population but the life of a surgeon definitely takes its toll
Higher mortality rates among surgeons vs non-surgeon physicians may reflect differences related to work environment, professional demands, and lifestyle.

These “peer to peer” conversations almost always go this way, and they never actually have the authority to approve care. Frustrating waste of my time on a weekly basis. Our system is broken.
A U.S. surgeon trying to have a “peer to peer” consultation with a doctor at a health insurance company who is hiding his identity as her patient gets denied coverage. And it gets worse from there. You have to see it to believe it.
