In addition to being evil, these people are complete fucking morons.
👀 Scoop: Trump and Republicans want USPS to sell off its brand new EVs and chargers.

That would mean literally **ripping up post office parking lots** to auction off assets with no private-sector value.

It’s buried in the Senate’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

Hey @mayorbowser.bsky.social and @councilofdc.bsky.social let’s get the DC Streetcar and bus/streetcar lanes done as part of the Commanders deal. This will be an essential part of gameday and NE transport!

Attn fellow transit planners.
"Down with the BRT, long live the bus."

I've just published an unusually polemical, argumentative post on my Substack explaining why I think Bus Rapid Transit is a failed planning concept.

No mention of climate change either?
Not a single time in this article glorifying the need for sprawl to address the US's affordable housing crisis is there a mention of the vast transportation costs of sprawling living patterns. Nor is there mention of the fact that sprawl is directly linked to disinvestment in urban cores.
America Needs More Sprawl to Fix Its Housing Crisis
The word has become an epithet for garish, reckless growth — but to fix the housing crisis, the country needs more of it.

Serious question: can someone explain to me like I’m a freshman in Politics 101 how a shutdown gives Trump more power?
Schumer: "For sure, the Republican bill is a terrible option. It is not a clean CR. It is deeply partisan. It doesn't address far too many of this country's needs. But I believe allowing Donald Trump to take even much more power via a government shutdown is a far worse option."

This week the Senate will vote on the Continuing Resolution which would revoke DC's ability to set our own budget. This would be devastating for our communities, and we need the Senate to VOTE NO.

Seems like a pretty great investment for the Dem Party would be to figure out how to force as many social elections as possible at all levels of government.
2 special elections yesterday:

—Dems easily defend a state House seat in MN, restoring a tie in chamber. (Ds won 70/30, a net two point better than the presidential race in November.)

—GOP narrowly defend a heavily red state House seat in IA, winning 52/48 in a district Trump carried by over 25%.

Will be forwarding all my 311 requests to every Member who votes for this.
NEW in @51st.news: House Republicans just voted to defund D.C. police and schools. As part of a spending bill to avert a federal government shutdown, they could force D.C. to slash $1.1 billion out of its budget, and no one understands really why. 51st.news/house-republ...

I just called Mike Johnson to demand an explanation since he fancies himself boss of DC. Predictably he didn’t pick up. 202-225-2777
It's shaping up to be a *very bad week* for D.C. The draft congressional spending bill to avert a federal shutdown would force D.C. to trim $945 million from its current fiscal year budget, which would spark immediate cuts to programs and staff. From @murray.senate.gov:
