The damned in hell are not more powerful for the fact that the fires do not consume them; it is part and parcel of their torment.

circumstantial: there are cities where bikes lanes basically don’t exist, and the sidewalk is basically a ghost town for walkers. fine; call your city for better infrastructure.

biking on the sidewalk with plenty of pedestrians? no way. doing the same when you have a bike lane?? firing squad.
What do y'all think about adults riding bikes on the sidewalk

most spineless, baby shit I’ve ever heard. “wah, this doesn’t poll well, we need to drop it.” people listen to this guy?
Here with yellow checkmarks we have five examples of real things that Gavin Newsom and leading California Democrats espouse. Not a straw man.

My take is Democrats should drop these ideas, ideas that do not sound at all like economic populism to me.

fantastic to hear that ICE, as it stands officially, is actually better than what’s to come
🚨BIG changes happening -- ICE leadership is being purged tonight. The old guard, which prioritized targeted enforcement operations aimed at people with criminal records, is being replaced with Border Patrol and Gregory Bovino's "Midway Blitz" style.

Think things are bad now? It'll get worse.

To understand the exploitation of capitalism, consider how drummers were forced to continue working instead of being given basic income and freedom from toil with the invention of the drum machine.

welp. when you’re right, you’re right.
Platner worked as a contractor for Blackwater as recently as 2018. I prefer Platner's left-wing stances but Mills seems more trustworthy. Platner could easily pull a Fetterman... he even has an upper middle class background like Fetterman

after using letterboxd for some time, I do wonder about the effects of largely enjoying 90% of movies I watch. knowing what you hate can be more instructive than knowing what you love!
I think the synthesis take was that friction was an undesirable thing which produced desirable side effects: it was annoying to have to search through the limited selection of the blockbuster or whatever, but you also were forced to broaden your horizons and got introduced to new things
Yeah, I think it is an impoverished take to see frictionless streaming from your couch as just an improved version of what was happening with video stores. There is that aspect, but there is true loss in the physical-digital switch and we needn’t pretend there’s not.
