you have to keep in mind that we were brought up being lectured endlessly about climate change, only for us to doom ourselves and our environment. we were raised on school shooting drills. silicon valley doesn’t innovate for us, it takes advantage of us. etc etc

the big issues are very grim for us

personally, issue-specific causes like BLM/Gaza gave me and peers something concrete to focus on. when the issue is more abstract, ie democracy at stake, we tend to not even talk about it — because what’s the point?

The damned in hell are not more powerful for the fact that the fires do not consume them; it is part and parcel of their torment.

yep. all too familiar to me: your boss is obviously bored and unfulfilled, so just creates tasks to make themselves feel important and occupy the day. meanwhile, you actually have real work to do. miserable people!
