Even if you don't then manage to hit the power down slider fast enough, just triggering that screen a) disables FaceID and b) places your phone in Before First Unlock mode, which makes it MUCH harder for law enforcement forensic tools to pull anything off your phone.

And if you have an iPhone and you have the sinking realization as the federal agent is bearing down on you that you forgot to disable biometrics: hit the right-side down button 5x very quickly to enter the power down menu.
Reminder- turn biometric locks on your phone OFF, and shift to a passcode if you think you’ll be in any situation where you’d be filming.

It’s true that human cognition is poorly understood and the question ‘what makes us human?’ has changed a lot over time as various technologies have emerged.
But the fact that thinking and speech can now be simulated doesn’t call into question thinking and speech themselves.
