Still rendering -- frame 1508/2500. My next Blender project is going to be sooo short.

Growing up, my local culture was not the type to do simple courtesies, like hold doors open for others. Then around twelve years old, a new friend casually held a door for me. It meant nothing to them but I suddenly learned both the theory of mind and the concept of unprompted kindness.
I would like to hear about a time someone, a stranger even, was very kind to you without any prompting, ulterior motive, or strings attached.

In order to put to rest “did they actually use it or not”, Guillaume Broche said it a recent Q&A that they tried AI when the tech was new, but they didn’t like it, it felt wrong to them. And they will not be using it in the future.

I put a bunch of library books on hold with long wait times hoping they would slowly drip in over the winter. Except they all came in at once and I will end up having to do reading triage in a few weeks.

Let Blender render 24x7 since a week ago when I went to visit my father. Came back yesterday and it's up to frame 700/2500 ... whew

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.

#blender Pro tip -- just learned that if you are going to do a multi week render on a Mac , make sure you run caffeine otherwise even blanking off the monitor can add 200% time to a frame.

The problem with Apple Music Replay is that deluxe albums with 3 hours of material take the top spot even if you only listened to them once or twice. At least I was able to scrub Relax My Cats from it this year (bymaking sure it always played from an alternate music service).

Slight but entertaining, an R rated picture book (but NOT for blood or swearing ... I guess just for the implication? ) Seen as the Marcus Mystery Movie.

A ★★★½ review of Dust Bunny (2025)
A true mashup -- a little Jean-Pierre Jeunet, a little Wes Anderson, a little David Leitch. Like a fairy tale with assassins and monsters, overstatured, cute to the edge of cloying but Mads always pul...

I'm now at the part of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein where the creature, like many young men, has decided, "A girlfriend will fix my identity crisis"

I don't know how to explain it, but there's something profoundly boring about Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein. I'm not even talking about the dumbing down of the novel's moral complexities or anything, I just mean something about the way it looks
