Back on here for the first time in months to celebrate this 🎉 I am so proud of my friend and to BE her friend. She already is and will continue to be an excellent, visionary public servant. Looking forward to a more effective government in St. Paul imminently!
Thank you, Ward Four! We did it. Whether you knocked doors, made phone calls, donated, hosted a meet and greet with your neighbors, were a supporter from day one or decided just before walking into your polling place: you built this campaign, and I’m forever grateful for your support.

Oh yeah?

Well, where the fuck are they, since they issued this piece of shit opinion that will allow actual children to be deported from the country of their birth, and they’re about to go on recess?
Watching analysis on CBS right now feels like an alternate universe.

"Based on my skim of this opinion, this is a very careful opinion by Justice Barrett that suggests, setting aside what the liberals have said and the concern they have, there are ways for courts to act quickly in cases like this."

Netanyahu has spent the better part of two decades trying to strong arm the United States into an unprovoked war against Iran and finally found a president stupid enough to do it for him. Unbelievable.

I’m at a soccer tournament and tuned out and just looked up at a tv in the hotel to see that we bombed Iran. What the fuck are we doing. I am shocked. I hate these people so much.

the political lesson everyone should take from Iraq is that you will regret being in favor of this sooner or later and the earlier you were against it the better off you’ll be

ignore the media frenzy and stake your position now, it’s the right thing to do and it’s the ambitious thing to do too

It's only Wednesday and it somehow feels like the entire country except for Minnesota has somehow moved on from the political assassinations committed on Saturday. I feel insane and I'm disgusted that national interest seemed to last only as long as there was a manhunt.

I still can't get past the idea that people in America are now supposed to accept that this is a valid form of law enforcement and just assume it's fine when random dudes in groups with face-coverings, no ID, no warrant, & no uniform grab people off the street and force them into unmarked vehicles
Not an original point but worth saying again - there is not a single element in this picture that identifies any of these folks as law enforcement agents. No badges, no uniforms, no vests. Out of context it just looks like a bunch of random guys are kidnapping a mayoral candidate.
Breaking News: Brad Lander, the New York City comptroller who is running for mayor, was detained by ICE agents at an immigration court as he tried to escort a migrant out of the courthouse to prevent his arrest. nyti.ms/4jWkANE

How often is the average person asked to verify their identity with the IRS? Because for me it's twice in the last 8 years. And it has been incredibly time-consuming each time. They won't even let me wait on hold right now, they just say they are too busy and to try again later.

Keep all this in mind if you news coverage implying Trump might moderate or backtrack on ICE roundups. It's all cheap talk, given that he's outsourced immigration policy to Stephen Miller.
Watch what the administration does, not what it says. bsky.app/profile/cram...
Trump should talk to Shadow President Stephen Miller, who explicitly ordered ICE to start rounding up non-criminals at farms and Home Depot parking lots

With the tragic assassination of a Minnesota Democratic leader, I’m going to underline this point again.
I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.
It's mind-blowing how little attention this extraordinary statement has received. It's briefly mentioned in a couple news articles, but this MSNBC opinion piece is the only extended discussion of it I've seen: www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnb...

ANY PSYCHO CAN GO COSPLAY A COP RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF WHAT THE BROWNSHIRTS IN ICE ARE DOING, WITH TACIT APPROVAL FROM THIS ADMINISTRATION. SICKENING AND TERRIFYING.
Fucking hell: “Minnesota state senator John Hoffman in Champlin and Minnesota state representative Melissa Hortman in Brooklyn Park were reportedly shot in their homes by a gunman impersonating a police officer.”

i’m so fucking fed up with this shit. when journalism outlets can’t even accurately and honestly say what’s happening to journalists—that they’re being attacked by cops and federal jackboots—then we are really and truly cooked. under scrutiny!!!!! i can’t. i can’t.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

Amazing that, as the country burns due in no small measure to the court's unitary executive b.s., the justices lack the self-awareness to pause their project even temporarily.

Beyond my internal crisis of faith in humanity, I look at this picture and see a crisis of the state. A healthy government acting with legitimate authority does not need secret, masked police.
Here's a picture that a @kuow.org photographer took in Seattle yesterday, showing the ICE officers masked up in the hallways as they waited to arrest people coming out of their hearings.

This is a perfect encapsulation of the crisis of humanity that I am feeling. How can these people go about their days and not think: I am the bad guy? The evidence is piling up that a large chunk of the population really does enjoy harming other people.
