Old mutuals from Twitter - say hello or I might miss that you're (finally!) here :)
New folks - until I get around to writing a new bio/intro thread, be aware that I block for casteism, racism and transphobia liberally, and that I support Kashmir's struggle for freedom as much as I do Palestine's.

Large-eyed animals like owls 🦉 have a trade-off between large eyes & short optic nerves, which lowers eye mobility (to compensate they evolved swivelly necks)

But chameleons 🦎 have long, coiled optic nerves with extra slack for eye mobility, allowing them to use their famous large swivelly eyes 👀🧪🌏

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

I...did not know about this danger. But turns out that renewables* are the answer for this, too.

"Unlike..fossil fuels or nuclear power, which add to our waste energy burden, renewable energy sources intercept energy that is already on its way to Earth, rather than producing additional waste heat."

I believe the mods when they say they haven't finished the technical work necessary to automatically inform users of what posts they're being suspended for.

I also believe that's not an acceptable flaw for this website in late 2025.

Agreed with this post and this thread.

Real people have to be told WHY they have been suspended. Otherwise, in the real world of rising fascism in which we live, users will wonder if accounts are being banned due to bad-faith right-wing pressure.
6. Until we have communal confidence that permanently suspended people actually received detailed and ideally actionable reports on what happened (appeal processes should exist), it's going to keep feeling bad.

Then you cut off them off again—but said it was my fault, tho wouldn't explain (before turning them back on.)

Maybe @sarahkendzior.bsky.social's ban is a mistake, too?
